This study was conducted at the National Institute of Animal Science from 2010 to 2017. As a variety that is sufficiently productive in the southern regions to replace imported varieties and sufficiently cold-resistant to be cultivated in the central-northern regions, "IR605" was developed and submitted to the Korea Seed & Variety Service in an application for protection. The novel Italian ryegrass variety "IR605" is a diploid with green leaves, a semi-erect growth habit before wintering, and an erect growth habit in the spring. "IR605" was a medium maturing variety with a heading date of around May 15th. "IR605" had a flag leaf width of 9.9 mm, flag leaf length of 26.7 cm, and plant length on the heading date of 100 cm, which was approximately 5 cm longer than "Kowinearly." The stem thickness and ear length of "IR605" are 0.08 mm thicker and 0.5 cm longer than those of "Kowinearly", respectively. The cold-resistance of "IR605" was weaker than that of "Kowinearly", but strong enough to be cultivated in Pyeongchang, Gangwon province. The dry matter yield of "IR605" (9,308 kg/hectare) was 20% higher than that of "Kowinearly", which was further pronounced in the southern region of Haenam, where there was a 52% increased (p < 0.05). The in vitro dry matter digestibility of "IR605" was 68.4% at which was slightly higher than that of "Kowinearly", The total digestible nutrients was 58.5%, which was slightly lower than "Kowinearly". Overall, the feed quality characteristics of "IR605" were similar to those of "Kowinearly".

The GPS positioning method is widely used in the performance of forest tasks due to its convenient observation. But the result of GPS positioning without precise GPS measurements or DGPS method generally includes relatively large positioning errors. In case of mountainous regions, these positioning errors more increase because tree canopies or topographies interfere GPS satellite signals. Thus, observers have to consider how large positioning errors are included under the various observation condition in mountainous regions. In this study, we conducted a real-time GPS positioning experiment in the mountainous region with widely used three hand-held GPS measurements and a precise GPS measurement in Korea Forest Service. We observed the positioning data at various regions of topography and physiognomy. Finally, we analyzed the RMSE of each GPS positioning results under various mountain environments.

Guppy has become a model organism for studying behavioral traits such as courtship and mate choice, as well as for understanding ecogeographic adaptation. Unfortunately, studying the early development of live bearers is more complicated than that of oviparous species, due to the inaccessibility of developing embryos for experimental manipulation. Ulrike et al. showed that the embryos could not be cultured for the entire period of their embryonic development. To optimize conditions embryo in vitro culture we established system for varying the concentration of fetal bovine serum in the medium impact on the embryonic development of in vitro embryos. For in vitro culture, embryos were incubated in 8 ml of sterile embryo medium (L-15 [Leibovitz] medium, supplemented with 5, 10, 15, and 20% fetal bovine serum respectively, 20 units/ml penicillin, and 200 mg/ml streptomycin) in a dark incubator at 25℃. Our study found that in 5% of FBS of the medium, embryos can be maintained until the middle-eyed. In 10% and 15% embryos can be maintained constant development; some of them can be fed; however, in 15% it is faster than 10%. And although in 20% of FBS can sustain rapid development of early stage, but ultimately died. According to our experimental data, both 10% and 15% FBS in medium can be used for in vitro culture, the slowly development in 10% FBS appears to be more conducive to observation.
