        When ginseng seedlings are cultured in paddy fields, quality degradation and yield reduction are induced by severe plant loss with chlorosis on leaves occurred physiological disorder by excessive salt and poor drainage, rusty-root occurrence, and root rot etc. Accordingly, in order to solve these problems, this study was performed to investigate the treatment method, concentrations and time of activated ion calcium as environment-friendly agricultural materials. Activated ion calcium is an enriched and purified water-soluble mineral calcium component for absorbing quickly into plant as a highly functional calcium and it is an alkaline calcium of 37% (370 ml/1 l) concentration with pH 13. Treatment method was that ginseng seeds were sown after removing water in the shade after seed immersion for 1 minute with active ion calcium of 20-fold diluted solution, and then irrigated 4l per 3.3 m2 with 200-fold, 400-fold, and 600-fold diluted solution before emergence on late March, and supplied 1 time on leaves with 500-fold diluted solution in June and July respectively. The disease rate by treatment of activated ion calcium was that on the treatment of soil irrigated with 200-fold diluted solution compared to non-treated soil, damping-off was 33%, anthracnose was 100% reduced and the occurrence rate of rusty-root was 30% reduced. In addition, when active ion calcium of 200-fold diluted solution were soil irrigated, first and second grade ginseng were respectively 26% and 22% produced more, compared with control.

        This experiment was carried out to select suitable organic matter in To-jik nursery (self soil nursery) for complement To-jik nursery's defects that are deterioration of raw material by poor quality of seed ginseng and reduction of the quantity in seed ginseng production. Organic matter used were Yacto, rice bean, defatted rice bran, soybean cake and their mixture. As follows, bulk density in soil physical property by treating organic composts was the greatest in soybean cake and the next was followed by mix, Yacto, defatted rice bran, and rice bran treatment in order. Soil pore space ratio was totally the opposite; that was rice bran the first and followed by defatted rice bran, Yacto, mix and soybean cake treatment. The incidence rate of damping off by treating organic composts was 1.5% in both soybean cake and mix while the others was 1.0%. Emergence time was the same among treatment on April 16 and Emergence rate was the highest at 73% in Yacto. There was no significant differences among treatment in the growth of aboveground part but it was a little better in defatted rice bran treatment. In Yacto treatment, the growth of underground part, total root number per kan, rate of first grade ginseng seedling, and rate of usable ginseng seedling etc. were entirely higher but there was little differences. Using defatted rice bran was slightly lower in productivity compared to Yacto, but the possibility was high as a alternative for Yacto in a view of managing cost down.

        인삼에 발생하는 병해충을 적기에 방제하여 농약살포횟수를 줄이고 인삼을 친환경적으로 재배할 수 있는 기초자료를 얻기위하여 2006년도에 전북지방의 인삼포장에 발생하는 병해충 및 포장에 비래하는 해충을 조사한 결과는 다음과 같다. 전북지역에서 발생하는 병의 종류는 진안은 Rhizoctonia solani 등 8종, 정읍은 Botrytis cinerea 등 7종, 고창은 Botrytis cinerea 등 6종이었다. 발생시기는 7월을 전후한 장마기에 가장 많이 발생하여 장마 이전에 철저한 병해방제가 요구되었다. 또한 전북지역에서 가장 문제시되는 병은 Alternaria alternata, Botrytis cinerea, Colletotrichum gloeosporioides 등이었다. 인삼 포장을 가해하는 해충을 조사한 결과, Asusta despecta sieboldiana와 Holotrichia sp.이었고 블랙라이트트랩을 이용한 결과에 있어서는 Maladera orientalis, Ostrinia furnacalis, Holotrichia morosa 등이 가장 많이 포획되었다.

        인삼재배가 가능한 임간의 기후적 특성과 임간재배지내에서의 병해충 발생상황 및 생육상황을 관행재배지와 비교해본 결과는 다음과 같다. 가. 임간재배지의 온도는 관행재배지보다 1℃ 정도 낮고 습도는 2% 정도 높았으며 토양온도는 1.9℃ 낮고 토양수분도 11.8%가 낮았다. 임간재배지의 풍속은 관행재배지보다 3배 정도 늦었으며 결로시간은 3.3시간 긴 것으로 나타났다. 특히 일사량은 현저히 부족하였고 강우량도 약간 부족한 것으로 나타났으나 큰 차이는 없었다. 나. 2003년이 2004년과 2005년보다 병해의 발생이 많았고 임간재배지에서의 병해발생이 관행재배지보다 심하였다. 때문에 8월 중순경에 지상부가 거의 다 고사되었다. 임간재배지의 주요 병해충으로는 탄저병, 점무늬병 및 뿌리썩음병이었고, 관행재배지는 위의 병해와 잿빛곰팡이병의 발생이 주를 이루는 것으로 나타났다. 해충으로는 잎별레와 나방류가 가해하는 것으로 조사되었다. 3년근의 생육상황을 비교한 결과 임간재배지에서 자란 인삼의 생육상황이 전반적으로 50% 이상 불량하였고 특히 근중은 87.2% 정도 가벼운 것으로 나타났다.
