The container terminals in Korea usually adopts both the bar code and the image recognition systems at the gate complex to capture necessary information on containers passing through the gate. With the rapid advancement of Information Technology(IT) these systems, however, seem to make the user not satisfied due to the inherent limitations such as the long process time taken, low rate of recognition etc., This paper, therefore, examines the adoption of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to container terminals, and tried to get some implication for the way to improve the productivity of the terminal. The results imply that some improvement in the gate and storage yard operation is feasible by the benefit of using the information of vehicles and containers collected in advance by RFID technology.

In order to decide the optimum planting time for Bupleurum falcatum L. which is grown widely in Korea, some experiments were carried out in different regions such as mid-north area (Gangwon-do, Gyeonggi-do and Chungcheongnamdo), mid-south area (Jeollanam-do, Jeollabuk-do, Gyeongsangnam-do and Gyeongsangbuk-do). The mid-south area had the highest total saikosaponin contents of 1.001, which is the medicinal ingredients of Bupleurum falcatum L., in accordance with the different Bupleurum falcatum L. regions. Also this area has the highest extract contents of 24.3%. Average dry root yields in mid-north area (Gangwon-do) were 450~460 kg/ha at planting time of March 20th to March 30th, 500 kg/ha at the time of March 30th to April 10th, and 470~480 kg/ha at the time of March 10th to March 20th in Chungcheongnam-do. The optimum planting time in the mid-south area (Jeollabuk-do) was March 10th to March 30th with the average dry root yield of 490~550 kg/ha. Average dry root yield in Euiseong, Gyeongsangbuk-do area was 470 kg/ha, and the optimum planting time was April 10th, which suggested that the yield increased as the planting time was delayed. At Jeju-do, the volcanic soil of farsouthern area, average dry root yield was 510 kg/ha at the time of March 10th, but the yield from non-volcanic soil was lower than from volcanic soil, which had a dry root yield of 470 kg/ha.

A the circumstances surrounding world ports have changed rapidly, Port competition to attract more cargoes is increasing fiercely. Especially, fierce competition to attract the increasing container cargoes has caused main container ports not only to invest enormous fund to modernize its port facilities but also to improve efficiency in port operation and management. But, it is hard to buila differentiation strategy with general port operation according to investing continuously enormous fund into main ports. In this situation, port marketing like 4P mix is of the immediate necessity and in this point, this paper estimated Brand Equity that have risen the core ability of marketing strategy, to transshipment port using Conjoint Analysis. In this analysis result, this paper shows that the brand equity of port significantly devoted to selection of transshipment port. This means that brand of port can attract considerable transshipment cargo. Then it has to induce customer loyalty for this brand extension.

Four urushiol components isolated from the sap of Korean lacquer tree(Rhus vernicifera Stokes) showed a strong antifungal activity, but they have no or low activity the bacteria and yeasts. Among them, 3-pentadecylcatechol marked the highest activity on the spore germination of Cladosporium herbarum (MIC:4μg/ml).
