        2010년 진해만의 춘계와 하계를 중심으로 환경요인 변화와 식물플랑크톤의 군집구조의 상관관계에 대한 생태학적 연구를 수행하였다. 식물플랑크톤의 생물량과 환경요인과의 상관관계를 조사하기 위해 수행한 다중상관분석과 CCA (Canonical Correspondance Analysis) 결과, 하계에 우점한 Chaetoceros spp., Skeletonema costatumlike spp., Pseudo-nitzschia delicatissima는 생물량 변화에 영향을 미치는 주요 요인을 선정할 수는 없었다. 반면, 춘계의 Cryptomonas spp.와 Pseudo-nitzschia multistriata는 질산염과의 양(+)의 상관관계(p⁄0.05)가 있을 것으로 판단되었다. 하계에 나타난 식물플랑크톤과 환경요인 간의 유의한 양 (+) 상관관계가 나타나지 않는 것은 강우에 의해 유입된 탁도 물질등에 의한 저층의 광합성 활성의 저하와 우점종의 구성과 생물량 차이에 의해 나타난 결과로 판단되었다. 또한 환경에 적응한 우점종의 분포특성은 진해만 광역해역을 부분적으로 구분할 수 있는 생물학적 요인으로 판단되었다. 결과적으로 식물플랑크톤과 환경요인과의 상관관계는 주요 우점종의 분포와 관련이 있었고, 특히 성층화된 하계에 우점한 식물플랑크톤 분포는 해역 구분에 중요한 인자로 활용 될 수 있었다.

        Spills of M/V Hebei Spirit on 7th December 2007 caused a seriously damage to the ecosystem of Korean coast. Of these, microbial communities (i.e., attached benthic micro-algae) were reported to be sentive to the environmental change so it can be used for ecological risk assessment. Our experiment was designed to examine the ecological risk assessments for oil pollutant using benthic attached algal community on the artificial substrates of acrylic plates. Field monitoring in the culture system was conducted in Jangmok Bay. The abundances of attached micro-algae on artificial substrates gradually increased with increasing of sampling times. Among them, diatoms were the most important colonizer of coastal water, with the genera Cylindrotheca and Navicular most abundant. In particular, developed the culture system has correctly measured qualitative and quantitative abundance of attached micro-algae because same acrylic plates as artificial substrates were used. Thus, this culture system may be directly applied to the ecological risk experiments of microbial community structure from oil pollutants.

        To understand growth characteristics of eight dominant red tide species (Prorocentrum minimum, Heterocapsa triquetra, Scrippsiella trochoidea, Akashiwo sanguinea, Chattonella marina, Heterosigma akashiwo, Amphidinium carterae and Rhodomonas salina) in the Korean coastal water, the growth rates were examined in relation with the impacts of water temperature and bio-volume. Of these, P. minimum, C. marina, H. akashiwo, A. carterae and R. salina were eurythermal species with relatively high growth rates in a borad ranges (15 to 25􀆆C) of water temperature. On the other hand, the growth rate of H. triquetra, S. trochoidea and A. sanguinea were high in relatively mid temperature (optimum: 25􀆆C) condition. In particular, H. triquetra was well adapted in low temperature of 5 to 15􀆆C, implying that the species can survive and grows even at very low temperature. Based on results of our experiment, the growth characterestics of five eurythermal species and three mid temperature species may have dominated in Korean coastal water during summer season and fall season, respectively. Contrastively, the growth characteristics of H. triquetra make a consistently dominant during the cold winter season. In addition, the growth rates of large bio- volume species were lower than those of small bio-volume species, indicates that growth of single cells of several flagellates might be depended on the cells sizes.
