This paper presents a comprehensive probabilistic model of reinforcement corrosion initiation under the combned action of carbonation and chloride ingress. The numerical results show that the probability of reinforcement corrosion initiation under the combined action is much higher than the case of only considering the action of single factor.
Analyzing the change of concrete pore structure due to carbonation and, also, considering the decrease of chloride binding capacity and the release of combined chloride ions, we established a comprehesive theoretical model which can reflect the influence of carbonation on chloride transport.
