PSC continuous girders have been used to improve the stability of simply supported girders. The loss of prestress is one of important factors for rational design and construction of the PSC girders. Measurements of prestress loss were conducted with the several test variables that reflect the conditions of continuous joint. Results show that the prestress loss is closely related to a eccentricity.

Unconditional usage of multi-layered waterproofing membrane system is common in large scale spatial structures in the contemporary setting. This study aims to evaluate the limitation of multi-layered waterproofing membrane system applied to the roofing system of large scale spatial structure and examine thoroughly whether such systems are suitable for steel plate concrete or not.

This paper provides a method to detect damage of pontoon bridge based on interpolated mode shape from forced vibration test. The 35 mode displacement vectors are interpolated with the 117 mode displacement vectors. By using the interpolated mode shape, the precision of the damage detection methods was improved.

Scouring of bridge foundation is one of the major cause of bridge failure. Scour can be defined as the excavation of foundation or other material from the bed and banks of streams, due to water flow. Scour monitoring is one of the major requirements to ensure bridge safety. There are some underwater instruments such as float-out devices which are used in scour monitoring. The available conventional underwater instruments are expensive and difficulties in maintenance. Thus vibration based monitoring techniques are emerging, this paper is one of such effort. This paper develops a vibration-based scour monitoring technique. The effect of sour on the vibration characteristics of pier is not significant at the early stages of scouring but significant changes in vibration characteristic can be identified during moderate level of scour. Thus this method can be used to identify and alert the safety of bridge prior its failure. An Extended Kalman filter is employed in this process. This paper numerically validates the monitoring capability of developed method over other vibrations based methods.

This study proposes a FE model updating strategy based on data fusion of acceleration and angular velocity. The use of acceleration and angular velocity gives richer information than the sole use of acceleration, allowing the enhanced performance particularly in determining the boundary conditions. A numerical simulation is presented to demonstrate the proposed FE model updating approach using the data fusion.

Infrastructure deterioration is becoming a major problem in Korea. For the purpose of establishing quantitative grounds to distribute government annual budget effectively in the area of infra structure maintenance. This study has performed a senior-engineer-oriented question investigation. This results can be used as a base data for the project that developing performance-based evaluation techniques for SOC structures.

The marine structures vibrate due to waves, current and wind load. Therefore, the marine structures is needed to evaluate the vibration usability for health and comfort of the user. In this paper, the vibration usability evaluation applying to the ISO 2631-2 and ISO 6954 standard was performed and discussed.

In Korea, the ratio of irrigation facilities which are over 50 years is close to 70%. The failure of small reservoirs happened because of torrential rainfall caused by a weather emergency. This study analyze cause of collapse and suggest prevention measure according to the recent collapse cases study.

Many industries put emphasis on Environment-Friendliness as environmental problems are on the rise all over the world. Among themselves the Modular Bridge research is going on. Also performing cross-section optimization and duration reducing, this research aims at developing the modular bridge with Environment-Friendliness and economic feasibility. However, The difficulty lies in verifying environmental effectiveness because there is no field applications of the modular bridge until now. Therefore, this thesis is 40m bending steel girder modular bridge CO2 emission quantification per work type and materials according to each form to verify environmental effectiveness of the modular bridge.

This paper presents a novel bolt-loosening detection technique using image information of bolted connections in the steel bridge. The technique consists of 5 steps: (1) taking a picture for a bolted joint, (2) converting to binary image, (3) extracting individual nuts, (4) extracting outlines of the nuts, and (5) identifying rotation angles of the nuts and detecting bolt-loosening. The applicability of the proposed technique is evaluated by experimental tests with several bolt-loosening scenarios.

Precast modular bridge was designed by ultimate strength design method(USD), though it is aimed at development of the world's first permanent bridge applying modular technology. Therefore, it is necessary to review the LSD in order to achieve the goal. In this study, the slab-type precast modular bridge(span 8m) was examined on the stability of bending moment in the longitudinal direction by the LSD.

3D Photo Scan is the science of making measurements from photographs, especially for recovering the exact positions of surface points. 3D Photo Scan may employ high-speed imaging and remote sensing in order to detect, measure and record complex 2D and 3D fields. It will be used as basic data on the facility maintenace through BIM based of RC measurements using advanced 3D photo scan.

Recently, to assessing the deflection of structural member, video gauge was widely used in the field of structural maintenance. This paper is dealt with the laboratory experience on the video gauge for detecting the structural deflection from the digital Image. In this paper, real deflection from LVDT detected from model bridge in laboratory was compared with the measurement of the Video Gauge. The accuracy of the deflection measurement using the Video Gauge in the load of the bridge was verified.

This study investigate mechanical properties of alkali-activated slag fiber-composites according to water to binder ratio. A series of experiments were carried out to find the mechanical properties including compressive strength, uniaxial tensile tests. The result of tests exhibited strain hardening behavior and high ductility under direct uniaxial tensile load test.

In general, the lateral resistant of bearing in a straight bridge is designed for lateral load such as wind or seismic forces. In this study, however, it is found that the cause of damage of bearings in a straight bridge adjacent to the curved road is the centrifugal force or the breaking force of the vehicle. Also, it is suggested that the repair method for the damaged bearings.

Existing nondestructive test methods used to measure reinforcement corrosion is based on qualitative measurement of corrosion, and it has many difficulties of use because many equipment and measurement stages are required for application at actual sites. Accordingly, this study was conducted to estimate reinforcement corrosion of concrete structures using infrared thermography method as a method of measuring reinforcement corrosion in concrete. As for the specimen was to measure reinforcement corrosion, D13 reinforcement with size of 200×150×180mm was buried at length of 250mm for covering depth of 20mm and 40mm. Accelerated reinforcement corrosion test was carried out after placement of concrete. As a result of measuring reinforcement corrosion using infrared thermography method, temperature difference of 1~3°C was shown depending on the corrosion stage. There was a correlation in which temperature decreased according to chloride content. Infrared thermography method was confirmed as a useful method for measurement of reinforcement corrosion inside concrete.

To have a rational maintenance Measures in masonry tunnel, the interaction matrix in PISD is adapted. Opinions from 22 experts in tunnel are applied to estimate the weight factor in risk analysis. 11 causes of masonry tunnel are evaluated for 163 sheets accounting for the limited budget and priority in risk.

We have tested the measuring system that can monitor the dynamic behaviour of floating structure by various sensors. In this paper, we present a initial result using a low-cost GPS sensor, which showed the inaccurate position and insufficient frequency for a floating structure.
