In the global manufacturing industry, digital transformation is emerging as an important issue for companies to improve productivity and strengthen industrial competitiveness. The government and shipbuilding companies drive research and development to attain advanced technologies through digital transformation for shipbuilding & offshore plants, one of Korea's representative manufacturing industries. Therefore, the digital transformation of the shipbuilding & offshore plant industry was defined using an input-output analysis model, and the economic interrelationships of industries linked to the digital transformation of the shipbuilding & offshore plant industry were analyzed. According to the analysis, the shipbuilding & offshore plant industry ranks second among all 34 industries regarding the forward linkage effect. The backward linkage effect was ranked 27th, making it a mid-demand industry with a robust forward linkage effect. In addition, the production-induced effect was 0.455, the value-added-induced effect was 0.174, and the employment-induced effect was 1.779 people per billion won. The contribution of this study is that it will provide the basis for establishing policies necessary to strengthen the competitiveness of the shipbuilding & offshore plant industry. Also, it will help analyze the economic effects of digital transformation in other manufacturing industries.

The purpose of this study is to provide logical and policy justification for the feasibility and sustainability of the project through analysis of economic ripple effects of the fishing village new deal 300 project. To do this, we applied the industry-related analysis, which is mainly used to analyze the economic ripple effects, to the fishing village new deal 300 project. The industry association analysis classifies the detailed project of the preliminary plan for the selection of the business into the software business such as the hardware business and the capacity enhancement in the construction field and analyzes the economic ripple effect through the inter-industry association. As a result, it is expected that the fishing village new deal 300 project will have a positive economic impact. When the total investment of 3 trillion won is invested in the project, it is estimated that the production inducement effect and the value added effect are 5,545.3 billion won and 2,102.7 billion won, respectively. In addition, 62,005 get job inducements, where 10,952 employment inducements were associated with job creation. The analysis of the above impacts seems to have secured the logical justification for the implementation of the fishing village new deal 300 project.

The VHTR (Very High Temperature gas-cooled nuclear Reactor) has been considered as a major heat source and the most safe generation IV type reactor for mass hydrogen production to prepare for the hydrogen economy era. The VHTR satisfies goals for the GIF (Generation IV International Forum) policy such as sustainablility, economics, reliability and proliferation resistance and physical protection, and safety. As a part of a VHTR economic analysis, we have studied the VHTR construction cost and operation and maintenance cost. However, it is somewhat difficult to expect the ripple effect on the whole industry due to the lack of information about Inter-industries relationship. In many case, the ripple effect are based on experts’ knowledge or uncertain qualitative assumptions. As a result, we propose quantitative analysis techniques for ripple effects such as the production inducement effect, added value inducement effect, and employment inducement effect for VHTR 600MWt×4 modules construction and operation ripple effect based on NOAK (Nth Of A Kind). Because inducement effect values have been published annually, we predict inducement effect’s relation function and estimated values including production inducement effect value, added value inducement effect value, and employment inducement effect value using time series and estimated values are verified with published inducement effects’ value. This paper presents a new method for the ripple effect and preliminary ripple effect consequence using a time series analysis and inter-industry table. This ripple effect analysis techniques can be applied to effect expectation analysis as well as other type reactor’s ripple effect analysis including VHTR for process heat.
