본 논문은 창작 뮤지컬 공연 제작과정에서 음악감독이 관여하는 음악작업에 대하여 연구하 였다. 연구의 목적은 뮤지컬 음악감독이 담당하는 뮤지컬 넘버의 공연화에 대하여 뮤지컬 제 작 현장의 직접적인 사례를 통하여 음악감독의 작업을 파악하는데 있다. 기존의 음악감독에 관한 연구들은 음악감독 사례 인터뷰의 간접적인 리뷰가 중심이었다면, 본 연구는 음악감독의 업무 중에서도 뮤지컬 넘버의 공연화인 루티닝(Routining) 과정에 대하여 음악감독의 관점에 서 직접적으로 서술한 연구이다. 본 연구자는 선행연구를 통해 음악 변화과정인 루티닝 대한 이론적 근거를 분석하고, 음악감독이 수행하는 작업 영역을 창작 뮤지컬 <해방>의 제작과정 사례에 적용하여 고찰하였다. 연구 결과 음악감독은 뮤지컬 넘버의 구성과 배치를 파악하여 드라마의 흐름과 무대전환을 위한 연결 및 가사 표현과 발음의 전달 등을 고려하여 음악을 조 정하는 작업을 하고, 배우들의 넘버습득을 위한 보컬지도와 넘버의 Key 조정 및 화음 추가 등 보컬 편곡을 담당한다. 본 연구를 통해 창작 뮤지컬 제작에서 무형의 악보가 유형의 공연으로 변화되는 과정을 이해하고, 그 과정의 중심에 있는 음악감독 역할에 대한 연구에 도움이 되길 바란다.

This study is based on the musical work involved by the music director in the process of producing a creative musical performance. The purpose of this study is to understand the work of the music director through direct examples of the musical production site for the performance of the musical number. While previous studies on music directors focused on indirect reviews of case interviews with music directors, this study directly describes the routining process, which is the performance of musical numbers, from the music director's point of view. Through previous research, this researcher analyzed the theoretical basis for the music change process, routining, and considered the work area performed by the music director by applying it to the case of the production process of the creative musical <Liberation>. As a result of the study, the music director understands the composition and arrangement of the musical number, adjusts the music in consideration of the flow of the drama, the connection for stage change, and the delivery of lyrics and pronunciation, and provides vocal guidance for actors to acquire the number. He is in charge of arranging vocals, such as adjusting the keys and adding chords for the number. It is hoped that this study will help to understand the process by which intangible sheet music is transformed into a tangible performance in creative musical production, and to study the role of the music director at the center of the process.
