이 논문은 실용 학문 전공 Z세대 학습자를 위한 글쓰기 수업 사례를 소개하기 위한 것이다. 이 를 통해서 실용 학문 학습자인 Z세대에게 보다 활용 가능한 글쓰기 수업에 대한 논쟁을 부각시 키고자 한다. 여기서 Z세대란 1995년부터 2005년 사이에 출생하여 청년기를 보내는 연령층으로 한정한다. 또한 실용 학문 전공 학습자란 인문학과 거리가 있는 취업 전략에 맞게 설계된 교육과정에 투입된 학습자를 의미한다. 이 논의는 한국의 젊은이들이 취업을 위해 고등교육을 선택하는 사례가 늘고 있어 시사적이다. 이 논의를 위해서 한국 대학이 놓인 상황 점검이 필수적이다. Z세대가 현재 한국에서 대부분 대학생활을 영위하고 있기 때문이다. 구체적으로 대학이 진리의 상아탑을 지킬 것이냐 아니면 취업을 위한 관문이 될 것이냐 하는 오래된 쟁점을 포함 한다. 교양의 강화 정책, 기대 수명 연장으로 인한 학습자들의 변화를 두루 아우를 것이다. 그런 다음 실용 학문 전공 학습자들을 위한 본격적인 논의에 착수할 수 있다. 글쓰기 교과는 교양이 냐 취업이냐 사이에서 사고 교육과 직무 교육의 길항관계를 모색하는 과정에 있다. 이 논문은 실제 현장을 토대로 하여 글쓰기 수업의 목표와 범위를 기술하고 내용과 방법을 상세히 할 것 이다. 그 과정에서 글쓰기 수업의 전망과 방향을 타진하여 앞으로 대학 교양 과정 글쓰기 수업 설계의 밑그림을 제공하고자 한다. 이 논문은 현대 사회 글쓰기의 중요성을 강조하고 대학 글쓰기 교육의 확산을 위한 강력한 제언을 담았다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

purpose of this article is to introduce writing classes for Z-generation learners who major in practical subjects. Through this, we aim to highlight the debate over writing classes that can be useful to practical learners of Z generation. Here, the Z-generation refers to only those who, born between 1995 and 2005, are currently going through their youth period. Also, a practical study major means a learner who has been engaged in a curriculum designed for a job finding strategy, ones quite different from the humanities majors. This debate is meaningful as an increasing number of Korean young people are choosing higher education because of employment. For this discussion, it is essential to check the situation at universities in Korea. This is because the majority of Z-generation in Korea is currently attending universities. The discussion specifically includes the issue regarding whether universities should keep their status as ivory tower of truth or become a gateway to employment. It will also focus on changes in learners due to policies to strengthen liberal arts and longer life expectancy. Then, we can start a full-fledged discussion for the students of practical studies. Writing classes are going through the process of finding a relationship between thinking education and working(job) education—between liberal arts and employment. This paper will describe the objectives and scopes of writing classes at actual sites and, in detail, their content and methods. In the process, we would like to provide a sketch of the design of future writing courses in liberal arts at universities by looking at prospects and directions of writing classes. This paper emphasizes the importance of writing in modern society and it is meaningful in that it offers some powerful suggestions for the spread of writing education at universities.
