Along with the rapid growth of shipping and transportation , the size of a ship larger and larger. Low speed maneuverabililty of a full ship has been received a great deal of attention concerting about the navigation safety, especially in the harbour area of waterway. And, the iperation of the full ship in harbour area is one fo tehmost difficult technique. Usually highly experienced experts can make a suitable decision considering various propeller ,rudder actions and environmental conditions. The Artificial Neural Network is applied to the automatic berthing control of a ship. The teaching data are made by the berthing simulation of a ship on the computer. And, the layer neural network is used and the 'Error Back-Propagation Algorithm' is used to teach the neural network. Finally, it is shown that the berthing control is successfully done by the established neural network.

Because of the result of a large use of electronic equipments, the occupation density of microwave frequency band is highly increased, and electromagnetic environment is getting more seriously bad. It is sometimes reported that electronic machines are not normally operated on account of the influence of undesired electromagnetic wave, which often gives fatal blow to even human life and thus becomes serious social problems. OATS(Open Area Test Site) is principally used to measure EMI or examine elelctromagnetic emission. Because of various restrictions we often build semi-anechoic chamber which has the function of OATS to measure EMI or EMS other than OATS. If the difference of the site attenuation between semi-anechoic chamber and OATS is within ±3dB, the semi-anechoic chamber is recognized as adequate facility to measure EMI or EMS. Accordingly authors evaluate and analyze site attenuation due to absorbent materials, polarization, mutual coupling effects, etc. The calculated and the measured site attenuation in semi-anechoic chamber are compared. As a result good agreement is obtained.

Even though marine casualities are recently occuring so frequently in territorial sea or beyond, that causing danger to navigation, yet no international regimes are officially made to cope with such an impediment efficiently. However, Internatinal Maritime Organization (IMO) commenced to work for adopting an appropriate internaitnal convention on wreck removal under co-operation with Comite' Maritime International (CMI). The legal committee of the CMI has already provided full comments on draft convention of the wreck romoval and duly submitted to IMO as a reference which was made on the basis of their principles of unification and harmonization. Accordingly, this paper re-arranged in order aiming to understand easily for legal aspects of the draft convention comprehensively in accordance with full contents provided by the CMI. To avoid any improper applicationor undue interpretation after fixing of the convention , every coastal state which has keen interests should trace its background of legal information from initial stage. Accordingly, the paper will contribute not only to realize how to draw a whole legal picture including specific articles on the convention fixable in the future but also to the national legislation with understanding full legal history of the convention.

History will be defined as a science on human beings in both space and time(des hommes dans le temps et l'espace). Navigational History is a premise to compose Maritime History. Maritime History is a branch of General History which is classified on the basis of space and will be definded as a branch of history to examine 'inter-realtions between maritime affairs and inland affairs'. Then, what kind of 'go by sea'can be a subject of Navigational History ? A research-subject of Navigational History must be navigation rather than sail or voyage. Because while 'sail' means to 'passive and noncommercial sailing' and voyage means to journeyin a general sense that includes sail and navigation, navigation means to indicate ' to go from one place to another in a ship' adn 'to convoy goods by water'. Then, how can we define Navigation History? Navigational History in a narrow sense is to be a field of studying 'process of development of nautical science and seamanship on the side of History ofScience and Techique, whereas Navigational History in a broad sense is to be a field of analyzing 'effects of historical navigation upon history on the side of General History. On studying Navigational History in a narrow sense, there are signifiacances of disclosing what the development of nautical instruments and arts of navigation have played a role in history. Navigational History in a broad sense is a branch of General History to study effects of historical navigation upon history. In conclusion, the significance of studying Navigation History is to disclose process of developmentof arts of navigation, and on the basis of this study is to reveal how the human elements operate in historical navigation. In short, it should not cease to study Navigational History in a narrow sense, and should enlarge its perspective of research toward Navigational History in a broad sense.

This study was to assess Korean sailors' knowldege, attitudes and behaviors about AIDS. The subjects of this study were 379 safety-trainee sailors. Data were collected by self reporting on a questionnaire during February to March 1996. The results were as follows : The mean score on AIDS knowledge was 17.3 out of a possible maximum score of 24.0. With respect to diseas transmission , only 45.6-86.5percent of the sailors correctly indicated that causal contact does not lead to contraction AIDS. The younger, unmarried , and educated groups had a higher level of knowledge about AIDS. With respect t sailors' attitudes about ADIS, 85.2 percent of the sailors reported that the AIDS is as big a problem as the media suggested, and over half of the sailors(53.8%) reported that they are being afraid of getting AIDS. One attitude, which was most pervasive(903.1 percent agreeing) was that it is important for sailors to receive AIDS education as a part of social education classes. In attitudes , there was statistical significance by age group, marital statistical signifiacance by age group , marital status, and educational level. With respect to sailor's preventive behaviors about AIDS, the mean score was 7.1 out of a possible maximum score of 9.0. It was shown that the older age, married groups had a higher level of preventive behaviors about AIDS.
