This research performed cause of sedimentary, field maintenance practices, such as the physical characteristics of the sediments. And device was developed through research for treatment of accumulated sediment. This study proposed method of treatment of accumulated sediment in agricultural irrigation and drainage channel for underlying treatment of accumulated sediment and easy to maintain through an indoor pilot experiment and field performance test using development device.

A pipe-rack structure exposed to various environmental conditions is one of the critical structures for the safety of a plant industry. Based on a selected, typical pipe-rack structure, this study evaluated the behavior of the pipe-rack structure accounting for the operating condition of the pipe and at the same time the effect of environmental conditions.

As existing bridges become deteriorated, deck replacement is highly demand. Precast concrete deck system is considered as a effective alternative to in-site concrete deck system in terms of reducing construction period and securing deck quality. In this paper, technology trends in precast deck connections are studied, which is an important factor for securing deck performance. The result shows that studies in precast deck connections are recently increasing drastically and development of new precast deck system is needed.

The investigation has been carried out for the design criteria of ship impact protection which installed for the off-shore bridge in Iksan regional Construction and Management Administration. From these investigation, it has been found out that various design criteria are applied for the off-shore bridges in Korea. However some bridges do not have clear design criteria on the fender for bridges.

The suspension bridge’s main cable requires regular checks for the decrease on the axial forces of the cable band bolts. In this paper, basic concepts are presented for the approach on the management of cable band bolts in suspension bridges. In additions, the reasons for the decrease of axial forces are investigated with various aspects and some measurement methods for the axial forces are presented as well.

To monitor dynamic responses of bridges, the vision-based system using commercial video-related equipment is developed. The research and development has been performed for dynamic characteristics extraction of external tendons in PSC box girder bridges. The vision-based dynamic measurement system consists of an industrial camera and notebook computer that can measure tendon's vibrations with 100 fps. The vision-based system was successfully tested and verified in the testbed bridge.

In this study, we analyze the current situation regarding the aging through a survey of domestic research buildings, and propose an improvement plan for research buildings. From the study results, we expect safety improvement and an increase in research productivity by improving the research environment of the buildings.

In this paper, the maintenance characteristics for the abutment and pier in highway bridges are investigated. The repair and rehabilitation properties are integrated from the Highway Bridge Maintenance System until 2013. Whole numbers of the abutment and the pier in highway bridges are over 37,000. The repair and/or rehabilitation are carried out for the substructure of about 10,240. More than 35 billion won of budget for repair and rehabilitation were used until now. It can be known that during one year about 37,000 won of budget has been used to maintain and preserve each substructure.

The riprap zone of rock-fill dam is consists of shale, mudstone. This riprap is treated with engineered materials tends stable. The angle of bedding planes lead is split along the thin shale properties. Depending on weather conditions, such as exposure to soil physical and chemical properties have to be unstable. The subsidence and the slope-sliding due to weathering of the riprap occurs. The influence of weathering was analyzed by visual surveys and quantitative material properties

The static aerodynamic forces are composed of six components. Three components of them such as drag force, lift force and pitching moment are the biggest influence on the structure. These aerodynamic forces are generally evaluated from wind tunnel test or CFD. In this study, drag and lift force coefficients are estimated using relation of actual and analytical displacements. The actual displacements are measured by monitoring system when the bridges were under the typhoon. The analytical displacements due to uniform load are calculated by FEM. Also, the adequacy of estimation method was conformed by comparing the result of this study with that from the wind tunnel test of the similar bridge section.

We have carried out the bridge inspections according to the laws not considering the characteristics of damages. Also the current condition based inspection cannot consider the rate of bridge deterioration. But it is reasonable to classify the inspection interval according to the risk of each bridge. This suggests the risk based inspection methodology.

Railroad concrete track is continuously supporting structure for repeated impact loads. Fine cracks which occurred in the early stage of the train operation, gradually expanded depending on the tonnage increases, and the function of the slab track is reduced. And, occurrence of track irregularity, worsening of ride comfort and interfere with the safe operation of trains would be follows. Therefore, management and maintenance of the initial crack is very important, railroad maintenance overhaul organizations detected twice a year or more the cracks and paint it, displays the location and severity, the type of cracks, width and length by creating a developed view. Each year much maintenance works is required for checking the crack of concrete trackbed and sleepers.

The lifetime of painting is shorter than the lifetime of the bridge. Thus, ongoing maintenance for the lifetime of the bridge is needed. In addition, determination of the repainting period in order to maintenance costs predict is very important. In previous studies were calculated repainting period using survey of experts and some field data. In this study, the properties of the repainting period were analyzed using repainting data of bridge maintenance system.

In order to measure the real-time displacement of a rail with train vehicles on service, a displacement meter has to be installed near the rail in conventional method. However, on this study, an innovative method is developed to measure the displacement of rail in real-time using laser vibrometer in a distance.

The ultimate aim of this study is producing the plan of the safety and research on the actual condition for facility to prepare a deterioration of the public facility. Through this scientific and methodical research on the actual condition, we can obtain required information for making policy which is used for general maintenance and the result of this study will give us a primary plan.

In this paper it is verified that the cavity of ground under box-culvert is closely related to the inspection grade of box-culvert. The field survey results of cavity exploration were compared to inspection grade of box-culvert. The test results show that the results of cavity exploration be a good index to predict inspection grade of box-culvert.

In light of the maintenance of underground structures, the evaluation scope of precise inspection for safety and diagnosis have been revised. Crack, leakage, deterioration, and drainage system are evaluated with field inspection in maintenance manner. It also proposed that the additional revision of the precise inspection for safety and diagnosis.
