These days it still writes on maintenance list by paper regarding safety inspection of bridge structures or saves data to be computerized. However this system occurs many problems regarding less data reliability, inefficiency system and subjective evaluation in bridge structures. This paper suggests smart bridge maintenance using NFC which is objective and high precision and tries to study that any body who takes a simple training can use this system simplified.

A wide range of sensors are used to figure out structure behaviors such as strain gauge, vibrating wire sensor, and etc. For stress sensor, it is exact but can only measure relative changed values. For displacement sensor, it is also exact but hard to figure out 3D displacement. Motion capture system can solve these problems so widely used in various fields including animation, sports and medical industry. This paper is aimed to define accuracy for motion capture system through the capturing a stopped passive marker. From this findings, possiblity to apply to structural health monitoring especially in building structure was verified.

In this paper, augmented reality (AR)-based sensor awareness and data visualization for environmental information monitoring of structures without the limitations of time and space is proposed. The proposed technique will improves the work efficiency and help to maintain good health for modern people by providing a comfortable indoor environment.

This study presents the comparison or distribution of the dynamic responses with or without soil-structure interaction. As a result, the maximum dynamic displacements and member forces of the suspension bridge with the soil-structure interaction (SSI) are larger than those without SSI. Therefore, the SSI analysis of suspension bridge must be performed more exactly to represent its dynamic responses.

In this study, applicability of corrosion detection method using measurement of concrete surface resistivity was evaluated through experiments to SFRC with steel reinforcement. The effects of mix ratio of steel fibers, corrosion state of steel reinforcement, and curing age was investigated. In the results, the effect of mix ratio was significant compared to other effects.

In this paper, augmented reality (AR)-based real-time bridge health monitoring technique without the limitations of time and space is proposed. The ubiqutous bridge safety inspection technique is expected to reduce the cost of maintaining bridges. The proposed technique is very promising to confirm the concrete structure safety under construction in terms of reducing both the cost and the human resource.

This study presents a method to monitor cable force using an Imote2/SHM-DAQ sensor node and a PZT sensor. The following approaches are carried out to achieve the objective. Firstly, the principle of piezoelectric material (e.g., PZT) as a strain sensor is reviewed. According to its piezoelectric features, the use of PZT sensor for strain measurement of a stay cable is presented. Secondly, the design of the data acquisition sensor node Imote2/SHM-DAQ is described. The sensor node is used to monitor strain-induced voltage from the PZT sensor. The advantages of the system are cheap, and enable for wireless communication and automated operation. Finally, the feasibility of the sensing system is evaluated on a lab-scale stay cable.

The structural stability as well as wind environments were not evaluated until now during maintaining in-service long span bridges unless wind-associated problems occur. Recently, typhoons or strong winds occur frequently because of global warming and climate changes so it is necessary to evaluate the wind stability of in-service bridges considering wind environment based on the field measurement. This study provides some basic information for wind environments of Dolsan cable-stayed bridge through analysis of measured wind data.

Damages due to typhoon and floods are increasing as a result of global warming and abnormal climate phenomenon over the world. Flood and scour is one of the major causes for bridge collapse. However, maintenance and inspection techniques still need improvements especially for underwater structures like bridge piers in rivers. Conventionally, manual inspection by divers has been carried out for underwater structures of bridges. This has difficulties in gathering accurate and reliable field data under severe environmental conditions. Therefore, in this study, underwater inspection of bridges has been carried out using the side scan sonar (SSS), one of unmanned underwater inspection equipment. Compared to the conventional manual inspection, it has been found that the SSS can be efficiently utilized to underwater inspection of bridges especially with bad visibility or large-scale inspection area.

In this paper, the applicability of structural health monitoring (SHM) system is evaluated on a full-scale concrete cable-stayed bridge, Hwamyung Bridge in Korea. Firstly, Imote2-platformed wireless sensor node for structural health monitoring is designed to monitor the cable forces by the vibration-impedance-based SHM. Secondly, the experimental setup is presented by filed verification test on Hwamyung Bridge. Finally, the long-term monitoring performance of the wireless sensor system is examined under various weather conditions. Also, the accuracy of cable force monitoring by the wireless sensor system is evaluated for the target bridge.

구조물은 공용연수의 경과에 따른 노후화로 시설물의 성능이 서서히 손실되기 마련으로, 기존의 구조해석에서는 이러한 시간의 경과에 따른 성능저하를 정확히 산정할 수 없다는 한계가 있기 때문에 과거에 단순 폐기되던 철거교량에 대하여 시편채취, 파괴시험 등을 실시함으로써, 공용중인 교량에 대한 성능평가 및 거동분석 기법 등 안전성 평가기법을 연구 개발하는데 그 목적을 두었다.

In this study, warehouse under bridge was analysed for evaluating the effects of the fire source using FDS code. As a results, most of the bridges were vulnerable to spalling of concrete and it is confirmed that strength of concrete and steel rebars reduced differently according to the type of fire source. The book combustion has the strongest intensity, and the bridge higher than 30m can ensure thesafety for the fire in the case of the rubber combustion.

The surface freezing and snowfall on the highway and bridge deck will be a cause of major accident in winter. The accident can be effectively reduced by preventing the road surface freezing and snowfall. For these, it is needed that the evaluation method for perception of the road surface condition. In this study, the detection system was investigated using the contact and contactless sensors. From the results, it is seemed that the organized system could well predict the road surface condition and so on.

According to the analysis results of the maintenance monitoring which are located on the 5, 6th subway line, they are analyzed that the stress of concrete lining and reinforced bar are converged gradually after 45 months. Therefore Monitoring of measurement and analysis frequency is conduct more often within about 4 years after the measuring instrument installation. Four years later, slowing the frequency of measurement is considered reasonable.

Despite the fact that wireless sensor is needed to be activated in order to do efficient and continuous management, batteries are limited on their lives in case of wireless sensor. This paper suggests that the energy harvester model can be used within low frequency and examined using single crystal PMN-PT material which is definitely good at the efficiency of piezoelectric in order to maximize the output power. And the possibility of wireless sensor node power supply is verified by using an acceleration data of cable hangers of YoungJong Grand Bridge.

The mechanical properties of stone structures are generally characterized according to the strength of the stone used. An ultrasonic velocity method that does not damage cultural heritages is used to measure the strength of stone. However, there is no correction involved for surface roughness and thickness of the stone in the ultrasonic method currently used. In addition, a contact agent such as grease can cause contamination on the surface of a cultural heritage.

This study introduces an algorithm for geometric distortion corrections in sonar images. The proposed algorithm mainly consists of two stages. At the first stage, the raw images are processed with median filter and Frost filter for noise reduction and intensity enhancement. In the last stage, the geometric distortion correction is conducted using angular information given by a gyro sensor. The algorithm was successfully applied on raw sonar data collected on a pier survey.

In this paper, a research was performed to estimate dynamic characteristics of bridges using wireless sensors. First, the developed wireless sensors were compared with wired sensors through laboratory tests. Field tests were carried out on a steel box girder bridge. Dynamic characteristics of the test bridge were identified from the measured data by wireless sensors. As a result, it was proven that the wireless sensor system could be effectively applied to the measurement of large civil-infra structures.

This study examined test piece production and on-the-spot test results of power supply system of road surface temperature sensor module that was put to forecast road freezing at bridge section. The temperature sensor module was produced to replace sensitive sensor (temperature and humidity sensor) of road surface that was put by wire system, and to supply power on-the-spot by itself, And, the study researched optimization considering power consumption for self power generation and sensor operation.
