An experimental study was conducted to propose an improved joint in the beam with non-uniform depths of cross-sections. The tested joint detail consisted of headed bars and 180-degree hooked bars. The parameters are the splice length and the confinement effect of strrups in lap zone. The increase of lap length and the confinement detail of strrup reinforcement in the lap zone did not affect the initial stiffness. It can be concluded that the proposed joint detail would be applicable to practical design by using the load transfer mechanism by the effects of confinement details.

An ICH RC (internally confined hollow reinforced concrete) tower for supporting 5.0MW wind turbine was developed and its standard sections were designed. It was found that ICH RC wind tower is satisfied with maximum 200% bigger moment which is required for pre-existing steel tower. Also, the results from the FAST showed that 5.0MW turbine can be normally operated with the ICH RC tower.

The bridges with damage can be a huge threat to human society. However, AASHTO (2012) and Korean Highway Bridge Design Code (2012) do not account for dynamic impacts for bridge column design under the impact loading. It recommends static force for bridge column design due to high computational cost and analysis time. In this study, in order to reduce the computational cost and time for the dynamic analysis, low dimensional model for the dynamic analysis was developed and residual displacements were compared with direct impact analysis.

In this study, an analytical study on the effect of the support structure deflection on the impact test result was carried out to set up the accurate impact test method. Various impact analyses of the CEDM(control element drive mechanisms) impact test were performed using LS-DYNA commercial FE program. Finally, the effect of the boundary condition of the support structure and impact loading duration were investigated.

Recently, there are increasing cases utilizing the composite slab with a deck-plate for the simplicity of construction process and shortening of the construction period by eliminating the formwork and reinforcement placing works. General method of an existing deck-plate slab places welded wire fabric(w.w.f) for the crack control by drying shrinkage, however it was pointed out as its potential possibility for a number of cracks. In this study, long-term cracking behavior of deck-plate slab with the steel fiber was evaluated on the continuous two-span slab specimens that was designed on the general building loading condition.

Shear wall system has been widely used in order to secure the ductility of the shear walls for lateral loads. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect on the shear strength of the coupling beams through the Push Over analysis of shear walls in MIDAS program.

The research was introduced a newly atypical beam with ultra-high strength concrete. Ultra high strength concrete has compressive strengths up to 200MPa, tensile strengths up to 20 MPa and tensile strain up to 5%. A series of the developed beams was designed an irregular cross-section by precast and form-work technologies. They evaluated the flexural performance by experiment and analysis comparing with conventional reinforced concrete beams.

The goal of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of the use of multi constructional material in unit module plate of steel grid structure and provide engineers and designers an appropriate view point of multi-material topology optimization when making decision and information in design. The material distribution is implemented with the use of 3 materials in a given plate under prescribed loading and boundary conditions. Topology changes through automatic distribution of multi materials are presented during optimization procedures showing that there could be selective structural design possibility when using multi materials. The cross sections, stiffness and cost of material combination are useful information for engineers and designers in making design decision.

In the nuclear power plant, safety-related structures have been used above No. 11 rebar. It needs to mechanical connection device to join RC to SC walls because ACI 349 presents that lap splices shall not be used for bars larger than No.11 bar. The performance tests were performed to confirm structural integrity on connection of RC to SC using a mechanical connection device. But performing the tests in accordance with various connection cases has limitations, such as time or cost. Therefore, computational analysis methodology is developed in order to verify structural integrity for various connection cases.

In this study, rear strain behavior of concrete panel considering the projectile nose shape was evaluated. It was considered that penetration and scabbing properties are different by each projectile nose shape. so it should be taken into account the rear strain behavior by projectile nose shape, when predicting scabbing, perforation of concrete by projectile impact.

Ultimate behaviors such as ultimate strength and fracture mechanism of fillet-welded connections with TIG(tungsten inert gas) welding have been investigated through test results. Main variables of specimens are weld length and welding direction against loading and ultimate strengths were compared according to the variables. Ultimate strengths were compared with current design predictions and modified design equations were proposed to consider the strength difference according to welding direction.

Long span structures like space-structures have instability phenomenon, jump buckling or bifurcation. And these instability phenomenon responds very sensitivity, depend on the initial condition. In this study, define the 1-degree of freedom space structure and when model has beating load, analysis critical load of model using 3D contour map for load, variable , displacement in the axial. The analysis results, when  is 1.0, is able to see the lowest critical load and the resonance phenomenon.

Elasto-plastic buckling strength is evaluated based on the procedure given by DNV-RP-C208. To calculate the safety margin of an irregular-shaped steel plates, usage factor in DNV-RP-C201 is modified then used.

In this study, the flexural tests were performed to investigate the flexural performance of prestressed hybrid wide flange (PHWF) beams. The main test variable was the shear stud on the top steel flange for composite action with the topping slab. All the specimens had the flexural strengths exceeding their design strengths. The test results also indicate that the PHWF beams had experienced fully composite behavior with high ductility, regardless of the existence of shear studs.

In a pretensioned concrete member, the effective prestress is not fully developed in a certain length from the end of the member, which is defined as transfer length. Because of its complex mechanism, previous transfer length models are mostly empirical and provide very different results. In this study, the Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System(ANFIS) was introduced to estimate the transfer lengths of pretensioned concrete members. A total of 209 experimental data has been used to train ANFIS, and the trained ANFIS algorithm estimated the transfer lengths of test specimens very accurately.

In this study, a half-precast composite concrete slab using a strain-hardening cementitious composites has been tested. To compare with RC slabs, the developed slab can minimize longtitudinal reinforcements and improve crack control through strain-hardening behavior of fiber cementitious composite.

This study analytically reviewed the behavior of steel plate concrete (SC) walls subjected to forced vibration to investigate the effects of shape and arrangement spacing of studs on the behavior spacing of studs for SC wall were carried out. When the distance between the studs increases more than necessary, it was also confirmed that the natural frequency was reduced.
