In this study, water resource topics, infrastructure, water supply, users, and economic indicators based on statistical annual standards for evaluating water welfare were selected by examining domestic and foreign water resource-related indicators. The level of water welfare was evaluated relative to 23 cities and counties in Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do using data from the Statistical yearbook, and places with high value of indicators urbanization and large populations were excellent in the infrastructure field, but overall analysis showed that small and medium-sized cities had higher levels. It is judged that it is necessary to develop continuous research and indicators that can evaluate and quantify the level of physical welfare that the people can feel by utilizing the results of this study. In future studies, it is necessary to systematically evaluate the level of water welfare by local governments in Korea through more diverse evaluation items and detailed indicators for each item so that it can be used as basic data for realizing water welfare.

In this study, the capacity of supplying agricultural water to 13 districts was analyzed by calculating the necessary water supply for the arable land of Gunwi-gun and examining the capacity of supplying water to reservoirs, streams, pumping stations, collection sites, and groundwater wells in Gunwi-gun. As a result, among the 13 districts the second district was found to be short of water by 1.2×106 tons/year. In general, local governments establish drought measures by selecting drought disaster risk zones. While selecting drought-risk areas, some water-poor areas that do not have water sources should be selected, even if the entire area has a sufficient water supply. The water-supply evaluation at the regional level was insufficient for locating areas without water sources, but most areas with water sources, such as streams, reservoirs, and pumping stations, were found to have no shortage of water. To locate water shortage areas without water sources, GIS analysis conducted a field survey of areas with a distance of 4 or less than that of water sources analyzed by GIS analysis. Sixty-nine sites in 13 districts were selected for the on-site survey and six areas of water shortage were identified in areas other than the second district.

This study, examines the flow characteristics of upstream channel depending on water gate operation of Nakdan Multi-fuctional weir. The specific purpose of this study are to simulate the variation of flow velocity depending on the operation of the weir using 1-dimensional hydraulic model, HEC-RAS, and compare it with observed velocity. For discharge conditions from 50 ㎥/s to 3,500 ㎥/s, it is observed that the velocity of upstream channel is almost constant, whereas for probability flood discharge, the velocity and froude number are increased as the discharge values are increased. The velocity values for downstream boundary condition EL, 40.0 m are more decreased than those for EL. 40.5m. From comparison on the variation of water stage depending on water gate operation, it is observed that the stage values are almost constant for discharges below 300 ㎥/s, whereas 5 cm to 20 cm for discharges over 700 ㎥/s. Flow velocity at streamflow gauging station. Nakdong, is decreased by more than 875% after installing the weir. The results obtained from this study indicate that the velocity of upstream channel is decreased and the discharge and velocity of downstream channel are significantly varied after installing the weir.

Hydraulic conductivity is an important parameter in the analytical model of groundwater. This study analyzed the groundwater movement characteristics by estimating optimal parameters according to hydraulic conductivity input methods with the MODFLOW model which is widely used. It first estimated the optimal parameters by dividing hydraulic conductivity zones by attitude. Next, it estimated optimal parameters by geological characteristic. It analyzed the groundwater movement characteristics by applying the recharge quantity and amount of evapotranspiration of drought periods and flood years with the estimated parameters. As the result was analyzed that there are differences of observation water level values according to hydraulic conductivity input methods but there is no big differences of overall groundwater movement characteristics by hydraulic conductivity input method, the two methods have found to be applicability in analyses of groundwater. So, it is judged that studies on more exact application of hydraulic conductivity and the application methods are needed.

This study analyzed on characteristics of the ground-water capture zone in coastal areas and mid-mountainous area according to pumping rate. For this study, it targeted Jejudo island where is the volcanic island. To analyze, MODFLOW model and MODPATH model, which are the ground-water flow analysis models, were used. As a result of research, the following conclusions could be obtained. As a result of analyzing influence of a change in pumping time upon length of capture zone, the length of capture zone in coastal area was indicated to be greater in the changing ratio compared to the length of capture zone in mid-mountainous area. Next, in the coastal area, the pumping rate and the capture-zone length are changing similarly. However, in mid-mountainous area, the length of capture zone was indicated to grow when the pumping rate comes to exceed 1,500m3/day. As a result of analyzing influence of a change in pumping time upon capture area, the tendency of a change in the area was indicated similarly in coastal areas and mid-mountainous area. Especially, it could be known that the larger pumping rate leads to the more definite increase in tendency to a change in capture area. Based on this study, it was allowed to be possibly used in the suitable pumping rate in coastal areas and mid-mountainous area of the volcano island in the future. A follow-up research is judged to necessarily analyze the influence of tubular-well group upon capture zone by additionally analyzing a change in capture zone targeting the concentrated tubular well.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the hydraulic characteristics of the ice-harbor fishway by considering its geometrical form and utilize such analysis results as the foundational database to be used when establishing fishways in the future. first of all, the study realizes the same form as an ice-harbor fishway that is currently implemented via a FLOW-3D model and estimated the parameters that were optimal to the numerical mock test. Then, this study analyzed the level of sensitivity of the flow conditions which fluctuated due to the changes in geometrical changes by adjusting the inclination and pocket spacing by using the estimated optimal parameters. As a result, the study arrived at the following conclusions. The vortical velocity increased and had a significant effect on the inclination of the fishway. Furthermore, as the velocity within the vorticity increased due to the narrowed vortical area, it was determined that further studies on vorticities or the determination of the design method for the decrease in vortical velocity were imperative.

In this study, the flow characteristic analysis at the curved-channel of the actual channel section is compared and reviewed using the 2D RMA-2 model and the 3D FLOW-3D model. the curve section with curve rate 1.044 in the research section is analyzed applying the frequency of he project flood of 100 years. According to the result, the issue for the application of the FLOW-3D Model’s three-dimensional numeric analysis result to the actual river is found to be reviewed with caution. Also, application of the 3D model to the wide basin’s flood characteristic is determined to be somewhat risky. But, the applicability to the hydraulic property analysis of a partial channel section and the impact analysis and forecast of hydraulic structure is presumed to be high. In addition, if the parameters to reflect the vegetation of basin and the actual channel, more accurate topological measurement data and the topological data with high closeness to the current status are provided, the result with higher reliability is considered to be drawn.

This study selected 6 river reach, which have various curved-channel, included in an object of study as making the Nakdong River, which is a real nature river, as a point of an object of study by using SMS RMA-2 model, a 2D numerical analysis model, and applied project flood and analyzed and examined characteristic of hydrological property and super-elevation, which includes characteristic of the velocity of a moving fluid. As a result, in a river reach, whose width is wide, angle of curved-channel has impact on the velocity of a moving fluid of inside of curved-channel and in a river reach, whose width is narrow, the radius of curvature and width of the river have impact on the velocity of a moving fluid of inside of curved-channel. Also it found out that the ratio of reduction in water-level of inside of curved-channel is more bigger than ratio of increasing in water-level of outside of curved-channel when project flood is increasing and angle of curve is increasing. Based on this, this study would be used as a expectation of danger and preliminary data in planning real river or a business, that creates an environment.

In this study, a river basin with a lot of measured data such as water level, flow rate, current speed, and sediment rate from the past to now was selected and geometrical shape of a pier was re-analyzed, in order to study the effects of the flow around the pier area as well as the riverbed alternation characteristics. A finite element mesh of the entire river was prepared, and via parameter revision, the section that the pier has influence on was decided, to analyze the shape of the pier using RMA-2 and SED2D-WES models. With regards to the section that the pier has influence on, analysis was done on the four pier shapes, namely circle, square, rectangle, and octagon. The results showed that the shape with the least influence around the pier around is the octagon, followed by circle, rectangle, and square, showing the different geometrical effects that the shapes have on the pier. Furthermore, it was shown that the distribution of sediment concentration had effect from about (+)110 m of the upstream to about (-)130 m of the downstream, from the pier installation point. Also, it was shown after analyzing drag forces for different sediment particle distributions that the shape with the greatest drag is the octagon, followed by circle, square, and rectangle.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of hydraulic behavior of the natural channel flow according to the temporal classification mode, and thus propose the hydraulic analysis method for future channel design. For analysis, the temporal flow characteristics of the channel section was divided into the steady flow and the unsteady flow. For hydraulic analysis, the HEC-RAS model, which is a one-dimensional numerical analysis model, and the SMS-RAM2 model, which is a two-dimensional model, were used and the factors used for analysis of hydraulic characteristics were flood elevation and flow rate. The flow state was analyzed on the basis of the one-dimensional steady flow and unsteady flow for review. In the unsteady flow analysis the flow rate changed by (-)0.16%~(+)0.26%, and the flood elevation varied by (-)0.35%~(+)0.51% as compared to the values in the steady flow analysis. Given these results, in the one-dimensional flow analysis based on the unsteady flow the flood elevation and flow rate were greater than when the analysis was done on the basis of the steady flow. The flow state was analyzed on the basis of the two-dimensional steady flow and unsteady flow. In the unsteady flow analysis the flow rate varied by (-)0.16%~(+)1.08%, and the flood elevation changed by (-) 0.24%~(+)0.41% as compared to the values in the steady flow analysis. Given these analysis results, in the two dimensional flow analysis based on the unsteady flow, the flood elevation and flow rate were greater than when the analysis was done on the basis of the steady flow.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the sensitivity of the RMA2 model parameters reflecting the flow characteristics of stream junction and thus understand the hydraulic characteristics of the channel confluence flow. This study dealt with the input parameters of the RMA-2 model, a two-dimensional numerical analysis model widely used for researches both at home and abroad. The parameters of the RMA-2 model are roughness coefficient, turbulent diffusion coefficient, Coriolis forces latitude, Density, and mesh size. This study those parameters estimated from actual heavy rainfall, and varied the parameter size by (-)30%~+30% to review the characteristics of the flow characteristics of the channel section. Weobserved that when the ratio of the channel width was relatively small, the smaller the approaching angle was, the farther from the junctions became the generating place of the maximum flow velocity, however, when the ratio of the channel width was relatively large, the larger the approaching angle was, the farther the generating place of the maximum flow velocity from the junctions became. In particular, the distance between junctions and the place where the maximum flow velocity generated showed an absolute correlationover 90% of the relative channel width, but an inverse relationwas found when the distance to the place where the flow velocity generated was shortened as relative the channel width between the main channel and tributary increased.

The purpose of this study is to examine appropriate sub-basin division numbers that best reflect the hydrological characteristics of the basin so as to propose the criterion for dividing the sub-basin in analyzing flood runoff in the future. The characteristics of flood runoff variations were based on the WMS HEC-1 model, and the area in the upstream of the Dongbyeon water level observatory and the Geum-ho water level observatory was chosen for analysis, and examined the characteristics of the changes in flood runoff. First of all, in the targeted basin, if the sub-basin division number was 4 (that is, the area of the divided sub-basin was about 25% of the total area). Next, as the sub-basin division number gradually increased, the peak rate of runoff increased as well, and in case the sub-basin was not divided, the peak rate of runoff occurred at the earliest time. Given these results, the spatial change characteristics will be best reflected when the sub-basin is divided for analysis of flood runoff in such a way that the area of the divided sub-basin is about 25% of the total area of the basin. However, as these results are based on a limited number (4) of storms, more storm events and other basins need to be included in the review of the sub-basin division methodology.
