        This study aims to investigate the relationship between high school students’ use of vocabulary learning strategies and their motivation. Its main concern is with how the relationship varies between three student groups divided according to their vocabulary achievement. A survey was taken by a total of 275 students enrolled in a high school in Gyeonggi province. 232 students were selected to be studied. The students were divided into three groups - advanced, intermediate, and beginner levels - based on their performance in vocabulary tests. Their responses were analyzed through SPSS to produce both basic descriptive and inferential statistics. The results show the three groups differ regarding which strategies both extrinsic and intrinsic motivation had a significant impact on - these were memory and cognitive strategies for the advanced level group; decision, social, memory and metacognitive strategies for the intermediate level group, and none for the beginner level group. The results also show that the three groups differ regarding which strategies only extrinsic or intrinsic motivation had a significant impact on.

        본 연구에서는 양봉산물로서의 가치 평가와 제품다양화를 위한 기초자료 제공을 위해 수벌번데기(16 ~ 20일령)의 영양성분분석 및 이를 이용한 추 출물을 제조하고 생리활성 효과를 검정하였다. 수벌번데기 동결건조 분말의 일반성분 분석 결과 수분 1.69 ± 0.07%, 조단백 48.52 ± 0.20%, 조지방 23.41 ± 0.14%, 조회분 4.05 ± 0.02% 였고, vitamin C 14.92 ± 0.52 mg/100 g, vitamin E 6.06 ± 0.11 mg α-TE/100 g 이었으며, 무기성분은 K과 P 의 함량(mg/100g)이 각각 1,349.13 ± 34.57 및 1,323.55 ± 43.85로 가장 높게 함유되어 있고, Ca과 Fe의 함량은 각각 55.43 ± 1.51 및 5.49 ± 0.19가 함유된 것으로 분석되었다. 수벌번데기 동결건조분말 중에 함유된 지방산은 포화지방산(g/100g total fatty acids)이 약 59.62, 불포화지방산이 약 40.38 을 차지하였고, 고급지방산인 palmitic acid (C16:0)가 35.49 ± 0.08, 그리고 oleic acid (C18:1, n-9)가 35.91 ± 0.22로 다량 함유되어 있었다. 구성아미노산(g/100 g)은 총 38.99 ± 2.63이 함유된 것으로 분석되었고, 유리아미노산(mg/100 g)은 총 5,129.04 였으며, 이중 proline이 1,257.68, glutamic acid가 759.12로 가장 높았다. 수벌번데기 추출물의 DPPH radical-scavenging 활성(μg/ml)은 증류수추출 시 0.8, 50% EtOH 추출 시 3.2, 70% EtOH 추출 시 6.4, 그리고 EtOH 추출 시 32 농도에서 약 90% 이상이었다. 이와 같은 결과는 항산화능에 기여하는 주요 화합물이 극성계 화합물임으로 추정되었으며, 저분자단백질 또는 유리형 아미노산일 가능성이 높은 것으로 추측되었다. 이상의 결과와 같이 수벌번데기는 우수한 식품원료로의 사용과 새로운 기능성 소재로의 활용을 기대할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

        2016년에 쌍별귀뚜라미는 식품의약품안전처 식품공전에 등록된 식품원료로 가장 큰 장점은 월동 없이 연중 대량 사육이 가능하다는 것과 60% 이상의 단백질 함량이다. 본 연구에서는 사육공간, 인건비 등의 문제로 인하여 귀뚜라미 사육이 불가능할 때를 대비하여 저장조건을 설정하 였으며, 산란율이 높은 산란처 선발과 알의 동종포식률을 조사하였다. 산란은 상토 산란처에서 가장 선호도가 높았으며(p < 0.05), 알의 동종포식 률을 보았을 때 10 L 당 종령 약충 62마리 이하, 1일 동안 산란을 받는 것이 가장 적합한 것으로 판단되었다(p < 0.05). 알의 저온 저장을 하였을 때는 28℃에서 10일간 보관 후 16℃에서 10일간 저온 저장했을 때 부화율이 가장 높았고, 저장을 하지 않았을 때와 비교하였을 때 12~14일 부 화를 연장할 수 있었다(p < 0.05). 쌍별귀뚜라미의 산란처, 산란 방법 및 알 저장조건을 설정함으로써 효율적인 생산방법을 제시하였다.

        Zophobas morio는 주로 애완동물의 먹이로 사용되고 있으며 대형어, 파충류, 양서류, 조류의 주식 및 간식으로 활용하기도 한다. Zophobas morio 는 27℃ 이상에서 사육하면 부화 후 80일째에 0.6 g 이상의 유충 무게를 얻었다. 보조사료를 선발하기 위해 콩가루, 어분, 보리, 메밀가루를 이용하였을 때 단백질 함량이 높은 콩가루와 어분에서 부화 후 80일째에 0.7 g이상의 유충무게를 확보하였다. Zophobas morio를 대량 사육하기 위해 성충의 산란율 증가와 균일한 유충을 확보하는 기술이 필요하다. 성충의 산란 격리틀을 이동시켜 줌으로써 유충 단계가 혼재되어 선발하는데, 노동력을 줄이며 높은 수확량과 균일한 유충을 확보하기 위해 5일, 10일, 15일 간격으로 성충을 산란틀로 옮겼을 때 5일 간격으로 성충을 옮기는 처리에서 총 부화유충수 7,256마리로 10일 5,439마리, 15일 2,060마리보다 더 많은 유충수를 확보할 수 있다. 따라서 Zophobas morio 성충을 5일 간격으로 산란틀을 옮기면서 산란을 9회 시키면 7,000마리 이상의 유충을 확보할 수 있으며 이때 한 마리당 무게는 0.68 g 확보가 가능하다.

        This study was conducted to investigate the antioxidant activities of extracts from various parts of the pine tree, which is known as a good source of functional food material. While ethanol extraction yields of pine bud and cone were higher than water extraction yields of pine bud and cone, water extraction yield of pine needle was higher than ethanol extraction yield of the pine needle. The content of polyphenols in the pine cone ethanol extract was 5 times higher than that in the pine bud and needle. Further, the content of flavonoids in the pine cone ethanol extract was 8 times higher than that in the pine bud and needle. DPPH radical scavenging effect of the pine cone ethanol extract was 3~5 times higher that of the pine bud and needle extract. Regardless of the extraction solvents, trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity (TEAC) and ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) of the pine cone were stronger than those of the other parts of the pine tree. Taken together, it can be expected that the pine cone can be practically used as an antioxidant substance in food and beauty industries.

        This study was conducted to investigate changes in organoleptic properties and taste components including free sugar, organic acid and free amino acid with addition of walnut. Changes in total nitrogen were insignificantly different with addition of walnut. Amino type nitrogen content was decreased in proportion to supplemental level of walnut. Content of organic acids, of which three kinds were detected, such as citric acid, malic acid and lactic acid increased more than two times with addition of walnut. Contents of free sugar and amino acid were decreased with addition of walnut. The proportion of essential amino acid was 40.6~41.4 percent. Glutamic acid in total amino acid was increased in proportion with addition of walnut. The highest sensory evaluation score was recorded in soy sauce with addition of 2 percent walnut. Together, it was expected that 2 percent addition of walnut to soy sauce has a positive effect on the taste of soy sauce.

        This study was conducted to assess effects of addition of walnuts on soy sauce quality. The pH was significantly increased by adding more than 4 percent of walnuts. As the addition of walnuts increased, Hunter’s color values and brown color increased. Total solid of soy sauce did not change significantly with the addition of walnuts. Crude fat content increased by two times in the 2 percent added walnuts group compared to the control group, but it was not dependent on the addition of walnuts. DPPH radical scavenging activity was significantly increased with the addition of walnuts. The addition of walnuts decrease saturated fatty acids and increased unsaturated fatty acids. Composition ratio of linoleic acid was highest in the control group and all the additions. These results revealed that soy sauce made with walnuts have a positive effect on functionality and preference.

        갈색거저리는 식용 및 사료용 곤충으로 중국을 비롯한 여러나라에서 활용되고 있으며, 일반식품 원료 등재로 본격적인 산업화가 이루어져 사육농가가 증가하면 다량의 유기성 부산물이 배출될 것으로 예상된다. 갈색거저리의 분변을 폐기물로 처리하지 않고 산업화에 응용할 수 있는 자원으로 활용하기 위해 시험한 결과는 다음과 같다. 갈색거저리 분변에 미강, 해조류를 혼합한 2종은 질소, 인산, 가리 합계량이 7% 이상으로 혼합유박공정규격에 적합하였으며 유해중금속은 공정규격 이하 수준이었다. 배추 생육은 분변토 혼합처리구 모두 관행보다는 떨어졌으며 유기질비료인 효진유박보다 좋았으나 유의성은 없었고 배추 수량은 효진유박에 비하여 12∼16% 증수되어 배추의 생육과 수량을 기준으로 판단할 때 거저리분변토의 혼합유기질 비료로서 비효가 인정되었다. 배추의 일반성분 함량은 모든 처리구에서 차이가 없었으며 단백질 함량은 기간이 경과될수록 점차 낮아졌다.

        우리벼메뚜기(Oxya chinensis sinuosa)와 풀무치(Locusta migratoria) 인공사료 개발을 위하여 시험구별 각각 30마리를 입식한 후 밀 생잎 급이구를 대조구로 밀, 보리, 벼를 통째로 갈아 단일곡물을 급이한 시험과 통밀+통보리, 통밀+통벼 가루를 혼합하여 시험하였다. 수분은 매일 09시와 17시 2회 공급하였으며 수분공급 시 별도로 생잎을 추가하여 시험을 수행하였다. 시험결과, 우리벼메뚜기는 4령까지 인공사료를 잘 먹지 않았으나 풀무치는 2령부터 먹기 시작하였 다. 우리벼메뚜기가 좋아하는 먹이는 통벼가루 단일곡물 또는 통밀+통벼가루 형태이고, 풀무치는 통밀가루 또는 통밀+통보리 가루를 선호하였다. 특히, 통곡실가루와 수분만 공급했을 때 풀무치는 동종포식으로 폐사율이 높았지만 밀 생잎을 매일 1g씩 2회 추가공급한 시험구에서는 상대적으로 낮았다. 우리벼메뚜기는 통곡실가루와 수분만 공급했을 때 풀무치에 비해 동종포식 현상이 적어 폐사율이 낮았다.

        벼메뚜기(Oxya chinensis sinuosa) 사육에 알맞은 온도 설정과 연중사육에 적합한 사육방법을 찾고자 이 시험을 수행하였다. 사육온도는 20℃부터 4℃ 간격으로 4처리 하였고, 사육방법은 노지망실을 이용한 자연환경 사육과 유리온실, 패널시설을 이용하여 온도를 보정하는 방법으로 3월부터 11월까지 2세대 또는 다회사육을 하였다. 사육기간 평균온도는 노지망실 18.2±6.1℃, 유리온실 22.5±2.8℃, 패널시설은 29.5±2.3℃이었다. 시험결과, 사육온도별 암컷의 체중은 28℃에서 0.9±0.1g으로 다른 처리보다 가장 높았고 약충기간은 32℃에서 43.5±2.8일로 가장 짧았다. 그러나, 온도가 낮은 20℃에서는 발육이 저조하였고, 약충기간도 106.3±8.8일로 많은 기간이 소요되었다. 사육방법별로 보면, 노지 망실사육은 성충까지 생존율이 천적에 의해 22.2%로 낮았고, 패널시설 실내사육에서는 78~80%로 높았다. 첫 산란까지 소요일수는 노지 망실사육에서 98일, 온실사육에서는 81.1일, 패널시설 실내사육에서는 61~62일이 소요되었다. 노지 망실사육은 연 1회, 유리온실 사육은 연 2회, 패널시설 실내사육은 연 4회 사육이 가능하였다.

        The purpose of this study is to investigate university students’ perceptions on their English conversation classes taught by native English speakers. Its focus is on finding out how well the students understand and how actively they participate in class, what causes difficulty in their understanding or participation in class, and whether their class helps them in terms of affective aspects and English skills. A survey was conducted on a total of 465 university students in Korea, and the collected data were analyzed to compute basic descriptive and inferential statistics. Some of the important findings are 1) over 50% of the students understand their classes well; 2) a little over 30% actively participate in class; 3) about 30~50% of the students perceive their class help them affectively; and 4) about 50% of the students perceive their class help them improve their English skills in general. These results are discussed along with other findings related to the causes of the difficulties that the students experienced. Suggestions are provided on the basis of the results and their implications.

        This study was conducted to investigate the changes in the physicochemical characteristics and antioxidant activity of cheonggukjang with the addition of walnuts. The pH of cheonggukjang did not change significantly with the addition of walnut. But the water content decreased significantly. Walnut addition to the soybean was expected to have a positive effect because the number of Bacillus subtilis was not reduced. The viscous substance content was significantly decreased when more than 20% of walnut was added to cheonggukjang. The addition of walnut made the color darker. The flavonoid and polyphenol content was sharply increased in proportion to the walnut addition and the DPPH radical scavenging activity of cheonggukjang also increased. Altogether, it was found that the addition of walnut had a positive influence on the cheonggukjang by increasing the antioxidant activity.

        Purpose: The purpose of the present study was to examine the physical and psychological benefits afforded by a 6-week yoga program for breast cancer survivors. Methods: Eligible participants (per-screened) were to the intervention group 17. All participants completed pre- and post-testing assessments immediately before and after the Mindfulness yoga program. Statistical analyses were paired samples t-test by SPSS 19.0. Results: The Mindfulness yoga program participants(female) included primarily breast cancer survivors, on average 46.5 months post-diagnosis. Significant differences between pre and post at post-intervention were seen only in psychosocial(i.e. QOL; Role function, Appetite loss, Constipation and PSQI) Finally, there were also significant improvements in the program participants from pre- to post-intervention on physical variables(Weight, BMI). Conclusion: The mindfulness yoga program has a positive effect on Quality of life in Breast cancer survivors. Future research might attempt to include control group and a longer program duration.

        Measuring task complexity of movement skill is an important factor to evaluate a difficulty of learning and/or imitating a task for autonomous robots. Although many complexity-measures are proposed in research areas such as neuroscience, physics, computer science, and biology, there have been little attention on the robotic tasks. To cope with measuring complexity of robotic task, we propose an information-theoretic measure for task complexity of movement skills. By modeling proprioceptive as well as exteroceptive sensor data as multivariate Gaussian distribution, movements of a task can be modeled as probabilistic model. Additionally, complexity of temporal variations is modeled by sampling in time and modeling as individual random variables. To evaluate our proposed complexity measure, several experiments are performed on the real robotic movement tasks.

        People have expected a humanoid robot to move as naturally as a human being does. The natural movements of humanoid robot may provide people with safer physical services and communicate with persons through motions more correctly. This work presented a methodology to generate the natural motions for a humanoid robot, which are converted from human motion capture data. The methodology produces not only kinematically mapped motions but dynamically mapped ones. The kinematical mapping reflects the human-likeness in the converted motions, while the dynamical mapping could ensure the movement stability of whole body motions of a humanoid robot. The methodology consists of three processes: (a) Human modeling, (b) Kinematic mapping and (c) Dynamic mapping. The human modeling based on optimization gives the ZMP (Zero Moment Point) and COM (Center of Mass) time trajectories of an actor. Those trajectories are modified for a humanoid robot through the kinematic mapping. In addition to modifying the ZMP and COM trajectories, the lower body (pelvis and legs) motion of the actor is then scaled kinematically and converted to the motion available to the humanoid robot considering dynamical aspects. The KIST humanoid robot, Mahru, imitated a dancing motion to evaluate the methodology, showing the good agreement in the motion.

        Nowadays, research on human-robot interaction has been getting increasing attention. In the research field of human-robot interaction, speech signal processing in particular is the source of much interest. In this paper, we report a speaker localization system with six microphones for a humanoid robot called MAHRU from KIST and propose a time delay of arrival (TDOA)-based feature matrix with its algorithm based on the minimum sum of absolute errors (MSAE) for sound source localization. The TDOA-based feature matrix is defined as a simple database matrix calculated from pairs of microphones installed on a humanoid robot. The proposed method, using the TDOA-based feature matrix and its algorithm based on MSAE, effortlessly localizes a sound source without any requirement for calculating approximate nonlinear equations. To verify the solid performance of our speaker localization system for a humanoid robot, we present various experimental results for the speech sources at all directions within 5 m distance and the height divided into three parts.

        In this paper, control software architecture is designed to enable a heterogeneous multiple humanoid robot demonstration executing tasks cooperating with each other. In the heterogeneous humanoid robot team, one large humanoid robot and two small humanoid robots are included. For the efficient and reliable information sharing between many software components for humanoid control, sensing and planning, CORBA based software framework is applied. The humanoid tasks are given in terms of finite state diagram based human-robot interface, which is interpreted into the XML based languages defining the details of the humanoid mission. A state transition is triggered based on the event which is described in terms of conditions on the sensor measurements such as robot locations and the external vision system. In the demonstration of the heterogeneous humanoid team, the task of multiple humanoid cleaning the table is given to the humanoid robots and successfully executed based on the given state diagram.
