        Five genera and 7 species of sciarid flies were collected in shiitake mushroom farm from 2007 to 2009. Among them, Lycoriella ingenua was dominant as a possible pest of the shiitake mushroom cultivated in plastic bottles. Other six species are reported for the first time in Korea.

        Camptomyia is a genus of gall midges belonging to subfamily Porricondilinae. On the study of shiitake mushroom farm in Korea, three species of maggots were collected. Among them, two Camptomyia spp. were recognized as the major pests. Colonies of these maggots were feeding on the mycelium of shiitake mushroom, disturbing the formation of mushroom fruit body. The morphology of C. heterobia and C. corticalis were illustrated with the description.

        Camptomyia is a genus of gall midges belonging to subfamily Porricondilinae, with 42 species known from the palaearctic region. In November 2007, serious damages of the Shiitake mushroom logs were reported in many shiitake farms from the middle part of South Korea. Rearing the adults in laboratory, a Camptomyia species was recognized as the major species causing damages on shiitake. Colonies of maggots were observed, feeding the mycelium of shiitake mushroom and the phloem of oak timbers, disturbing the mushroom fruit body formation. The morphology of the larvae and adult of this Camptomyia heterobia. is illustrated with the description of the damage symptom.

        It has not been much known about that how much the properties of parental strains appear in the monokaryotic progeny of their basidiospores and the properties of monokaryotic progeny is transferred and expressed after mating with other monokaryotic progeny. To get a basic idea in the evaluation of shiitake strains that are subjectto be used for a breeding program, biochemical properties of monokaryotic strains generated from basidiospores of parental shiitake strains (Sanzo101 and Sanzo108) and hybrid strains generated from cross of these monokaryotic strains were examined. When amylase, avicelase, β-glucosidase, CM-cellulase, pectinase, proteinase, and xylanase were tested against monokaryotic strains generated from forty basidiospores of the two parental strains, No identical patterns of the degree of enzyme activity were observed between monokaryotic strains and parental strains of the two shiitake cultivars. The degree of extracellular enzyme activity also varied among monokaryotic strains of the two shiitake cultivars. Our results showed that dikaryotic parental strains of shiitake mushroom produce basidiospores having very diverse biochemical properties. Biochemical test of monokaryotic strains was useful for the comparative evaluation of parental strains. Biochemical test with hybrid strains formed with the combinational cross of monokaryotic strains that have different degree of extracellular activity showed that the property of monokaryotic strains is not expressed in the hybrid strains according to Mandelian principles. Tests of the ability of using diverse polymeric carbon sources, tolerance to copper and agrochemicals, and antagonistic property to Tricoderma atroviride also showed similar results

        종균의 종류에 따라 중온성 품종의 생산성이 어떻게 달라지는지를 확인하고자 연구를 수행하였다. 버섯의 발생 경향은 세 처리구 모두 비슷했으며, 성형종균과 액체종균 처리구는 2차발생까지 총수확량의 50% 이상, 4차까지 80%이상 발생되었다. 기형버섯조사에서는, 세 처리구 모두 2차 발생까지만 기형버섯이 발생되었다. 하지만 기형버섯 발생률에 있어서는 다른 처리구들에 비해 액체종균 접종구에서의 발생률이 낮았다. 수확량조사에서는 액체종균을 접종했을 때 배지당 411 g으로 처리구들 중 가장 많았고 10 g이 넘는 버섯도 309 g으로 톱밥종균과 성형종균에 비해 많았다. 그리고 발생된 자실체 개수는 톱밥종균과 성형종균 간에 유의성이 있었지만 자실체 개당 무게는 세 처리구 간에 유의성이 없었다.

        표고골목 해균인 주홍꼬리버섯을 방제하기 위해 저항성 표고균주 선발을 시도하였다. 저항성 표고균주 선발 시험에서, 사용된 77개 균주 중 67개 균주가 저항력을 가지는 것으로 확인되었다. 이들 67개 균주 중 KFRI 5를 포함한 13개 균주가 주홍꼬리버섯균의 접근을 막는데 가장 큰 영향을 미쳤고 KFRI 180을 포함한 7개 균주가 주홍꼬리버섯의 영역으로 가장 많이 침범했다. 교잡을 통해 만든 31개 균주 중 KFRI 537을 포함한 8개 균주가 주홍꼬리버섯균의 접근을 막는데 가장 큰 영향을 미쳤고 KFRI 545를 포함한 4개 균주가 주홍꼬리버섯의 영역으로 가장 많이 침범했다. 온도와 접종순서의 변화에 따른 각 균주의 저항력차이를 확인하기 위해 PDA 평판배지와 상수리나무톱밥을 넣은 시험관배지를 사용했다. PDA 평판배지 시험결과, 대부분의 처리구에서 KFRI 137은 주홍꼬리버섯에 대해 뛰어난 접근 억제력을 보였고 KFRI 180은 뛰어난 침범력을 보였다. 교잡균인 KFRI 545, 546, 547은 모균주들인KFRI 488과 405에 비해 높은 저항력을 보였다. 시험관배지 시험결과, 표고균과 주홍꼬리버섯균이 대치를 하는 시점부터 25℃에 두었을 때 모든 균주가 높은 저항력을 나타냈다. KFRI 393은 25℃에서 지속 배양할 때 다른 균주에 비해 높은 저항력을 나타냈다. 또한 모든 균주들에서, 25℃ 배양 후 두 균이 대치를 할 시기에 14℃로 옮겨 배양한 처리구는 다른 처리구들에 비해 낮은 저항력을 보였다. 이때의 저항력 정도는 각 균주 최고치의 7-20%에 불과했다. 또한 KFRI 259는 PDA 평판배지에서와 달리, 주홍꼬리버섯의 영역을 침범했다.

        Extracts from sawdust of Pinus densiflora were showed antifungal activity against Lentinula edodes. It was extracted by hot water and then successively extracted by n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and methanol. The yields of the n-hexane-soluble, ethyl acetatesoluble, methanol-soluble and methanol-insoluble fractions of water extracts were 8.2%, 10.6%, 32.0%, and 49.2%, respectively. The ethyl acetate-soluble fraction showed the greatest antifungal activity against L. edodes: 41.5% inhibition at 1,000 ppm. However, there were not significant differences of antifungal activities between n-hexane-soluble fraction and methanol-soluble fraction at a concentration of 1,000 ppm. The hot water extracts showed 23.5% of antifungal activity against L. edodes at a concentration of 1000 ppm. The four antifungal compounds were separated from ethyl acetate fraction by thin layer chromatography.

        The equilibrium moisture content(EMC) of Shiitake mushroom is and important factor because it has a close relationship to storage and drying problems. The determination of the EMC for Shiitake mushroom was made in atmospheres of various constant humidities at four different constant temperatures and the fitting of the five selected EMC models were performed with the experimental EMC data. The desorption equilibrium moisture contents for Shiitake mushroom were increased as the temperature was decreased and the relative humidity was increased. The significant difference of the equilibrium moisture content was appeared between the cap and the stipe of Shiitake mushroom. The Henderson-Thompson model was fitter than the others with the experimental data.

        The effect of drying temperature (30, 40, 50, 60) on chemical components of Shiitake mushroom(Lentinus edodss) was investigate. When compared proximate composition on pileus and stipe of raw and dried materials, all of them were found to be higher in the stipe part than in the pileus part. The major components of organic acid were oxalic, citric, malic, malonic and pyroglutaric acid. The contents of free and total amino acids in pileus and stipe were 3458.4, 7640.2mg% for pilueus; 2298.0, 6171.5mg% for stipe on dry basis, respectively. On the other hand, there was no significant difference in the changes of crude ash and organic acids content of Shiitake mushroom among drying temperatures. But the amount of crude fats was increased and that of reducing sugars was decreased with increase of drying temperature. The contents of crude proteins of pileus part of dried materials were increased with increased drying temperature, but those of stile part were gradually decreased. The contents of free amino acids decreased with increase in drying temperature, but those of total amino acids were gradually increased.

        Drying of Shiitake mushroom was investigated to see the effect of temperature, relative humidity of drying air and diameter of the pileus on its rates. The drying rate was increased with the increase of the air temperature and the decrease of the relative humidity. The external color was dark brown at higher drying temperature and higher relative humidity. Exponential and Thompson nodel were found to describe well the raying process of the Shiitake mushroom.
