        Thermal barrier systems have been widely investigated over the past decades, in order to enhance reliability and efficiency of gas turbines at higher temperatures. Yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) is one of the most leading materials as the thermal barriers due to its low thermal conductivity, thermodynamic stability, and thermal compatibility with metal substrates. In this work, rare-earth oxides with pyrochlore phases for thermal barrier systems were investigated. Pyrochlore phases were successfully formed via solid-state reactions started from rare-earth oxide powders. For the heat-treated samples, thermo-physical properties were examined. These rare-oxide oxides showed thermal expansion of and thermal conductivity of 1.2~2.4 W/mK, which is comparable with the thermal properties of YSZ.

        Glass-ceramics were fabricated by heat-treatment of glass obtained by melting a coal bottom ash with Li2O addition. The main crystal grown in the glass-ceramics, containing 10 wt% Li2O, was β-spodumene solid solution, while in Li2O 20 wt% specimen was mullite, identified using XRD. The activation energy and Avrami constant for crystallization were calculated and showed that bulk crystallization behavior will be predominant, and this expectation agreed with the microstructural observations. The crystal phase grown in Li2O 10 wt% glass-ceramics had a dendrite-like shaped whereas the shape was flake-like in the 20 wt% case. The thermal expansion coefficient of the Li2O 10 wt% glass-ceramics was lower than that of the glass having the same composition, owing to the formation of a β-spodumene phase. For example, the thermal expansion coefficient of Li2O 10 wt% glass-ceramics was 20×10-7, which is enough for application in various heat-resistance fields. But above 20 wt% Li2O, the thermal coefficient expansion of glass-ceramics, on the contrary, was higher than that of the same composition glass, due to formation of mullite.

        목적: 최근 소프트 콘택트렌즈는 소재의 연구개발 뿐만 아니라 기능성의 연구개발도 함께 이루 지고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 Ag를 이용하여 항균성을 갖는 기능성 콘택트렌즈를 제조하였다. 방법: 기존 소프트 콘택트렌즈의 재료와 AgNO3을 혼합하여 교반한 후, 70℃에서 약 40분, 80℃에서 약 40분 건조하였다. 마지막으로 100℃에서 약 40분 열처리 공정을 거처 공중합하였다. 결과: 물리적 특성으로는 건조 후와 수화 후의 굴절률은 1.502~1.504와 1436~1.445, 함수율은 34.54%~39.03% 그리고 가시광선 투과율은 79.1%~83.8%를 나타내었다. 결론: 기존 소프트 콘택트렌즈의 소재와 은과의 중합을 통해 콘택트렌즈의 물리적 특성에도 부합되는 폴리머가 생성된 것으로 판단된다.

        We investigated the effect of diameter and content of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) on the physical properties of styrenebutadiene rubber (SBR)/CNTs nanocomposites. CNTs-reinforced SBR nanocomposites were prepared by the melt mixing process. CNTs with different diameters were synthesized by the chemical vapor deposition method (CVD). In this work, the mechanical property and other physical properties of SBR/CNTS nanocomposites were discussed as a function of the content and diameter of CNTs.

        In this study, the effects of silver treatment and activation on the physical and chemical properties of spherical activated carbon (SAC) were studied. The textural properties of SAC were characterized by BET surface area, XRD, SEM, iodine adsorption, strength intensity, pressure drop and antibacterial effects. BET surface areas of SACs decreased with an increase of the amount of PR before and after activation, and the BET surface areas of SACs were found to be about 2-3 times the size of those before activation. The XRD patterns showed their existing state as stable Ag crystals and carbon structure. The Ag particles are seaweedlike and uniform, being approximately 5-10 μm in size deposited on the surface of activated carbon. All of the samples had much more iodine adsorption capability after activation than before activation. The strength values of SACs increased with an increase of the amount of PR, and there was a smaller drop in the strength values of SACs with silver treatment than with non-silver treatment after activation. The Ag-SAC composites showed strong antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli (E. Coli).

        Unreported dielectrics based on the binary system of MgO-SiO2 were investigated as potential candidates for microwave dielectric applications, particularly those demanding a high fired density and high quality factors. Extensive dielectric compositions having different molar ratios of MgO to SiO2, such as 2:1, 3:1, 4:1, and 5:1, were prepared by conventional solid state reactions between MgO and SiO2. 1 mol% of V2O5 was added to aid sintering for improved densification. The dielectric compositions were found to consist of two distinguishable phases of Mg2SiO4 and MgO beyond the 2:1 compositional ratio, which determined the final physical and dielectric properties of the corresponding composite samples. The increase of the ratio of MgO to SiO2 tended to improve fired density and quality factor (Q) without increasing grain size. As a promising composition, the 5MgO.SiO2 sample sintered at 1400 ˚C exhibited a low dielectric constant of 7.9 and a high Q × f (frequency) value of ~99,600 at 13.7 GHz.

        폐타이어 고무분말은 도로 유지 및 보수제로 아스팔트 바인더의 개질제로 사용되고 있다. 도로보수제인 폐타이어 고무분말 개질 아스팔트 (crumb rubber modified asphalt, CRMA) 실란트에 필요한 접착특성은 저온에서 아스팔트 바인더의 취성과 접착파괴특성 때문에 주목받고 있다. 본 연구에서는 저온에서 CRMAs의 개질제로서 유연제의 영향을 조사하였다. 저온에서 CRMAs의 특성은 침입도, 연화점, 인장 및 인장접착시험을 통하여 측정하였다. 유연제를 도입한 CRMAs에서 CR과 아스팔트바인더의 연성변형이 증가함에 따라 인장접착강도와 변형률이 증가하였다. 저온영역에서 CRMAs의 인장특성과 접착특성은 유연제의 함량이 중요한 요소임을 발견하였다.

        Taegwondo uniforms need powerful durability in fabrics against friction and shock because of higher exercising power. Therefore, in this study we developed more comfortable Taegwondo uniform for functional fabrics (deodorization rate, antibacterial activity and static charge). Chitosan is a deacetylated product of chitin, has widely been used in the biomedical sector, food industry, and textile industry. For the purpose of this study, we used the chitosan, which was congenial to the human body. Then, we compared the differences between the chitosan treated fabrics and non treated fabrics of Taegwondo uniform(100% polyester, 65% polyester/35% cotton). Chitosan was dissolved in 1% acetic acid. Also, the fabrics were washed using distilled water. Afterward, its treatment with chitosan was completed by padding the sample to its wet pick-up at 80±5% and by heating 150℃ for 3 minutes. The chitosan treated Taegwondo uniform was improved on deodorization rate than non treated uniform. And the chitosan treated Taegwondo uniform was improved remarkably the antibacterial activity in all samples. In the further researches, the static charge was reduced in chitosan treatment uniform.

        본 연구는 폐타이어 고무분말 개질 아스팔트(crumb rubber modified asphalt, CRMA) 공정조건에서 반응온도, 혼합반응시간 및 유연성 개질제의 영향을 조사하였다. 저온에서 아스팔트바인더와 개질 아스팔트의 온도 민감성과 접착특성은 침입도와 인장접착강도를 통하여 측정하였다. 유연제와 공정온도가 인장접착강도와 강인화 에너지의 중요한 요소임을 확인하였다. 더 높은 혼합온도와 연성 개질제에서 CRMA의 인장접착물성이 향상되는 것은 아스팔트바인더와 개질 아스팔트의 연성구조에 기인한다. CRMA의 물리적 특성의 개선은 CR과 아스팔트바인더간의 상용성에 있다. 유연제가 CR과 아스팔트바인더 안에 침투되어, 유연제에 의해 개질된 CRMA는 CRMA보다 접착특성이 증가하였음을 확인하였다.

        The flame-retardant coatings were prepared by blending the synthesized triphosphorus modified polyester in the previous paper and hexamethylene diisocyanate-trimer and curing it at room temperature. The characterization of the films of the prepared coatings was performed. It was confirmed that no deterioration of physical properties of PU coatings was observed with the increasing phenylphosphonic acid (PPA) contents. Flame retardancy was tested by a 45˚ Meckel burner method and LOI method. With the 45˚ Meckel burner method, CATBTP-20C and CATBTP-30C that contain 20 wt% and 30 wt% of PPA, flame retarding component, respectively, showed the first grade flame retardancy with 2.8~3.9 cm of char length ; and, with LOI method, they exhibited a good flame retardancy as a range of 30~32% of combustion values.

        본 연구에서는 고감성 의류로 사용되는 국내.외 남성용 소모직물 40종의 시료를 이용하여 이들 소모직물의 물성을 비교.분석하였다. 이들 시료는 1차시료 14개와 2차 시료 26개로 나누어지며 국내와 국외 시료로 구분하여 비교.분석하였다. 물성분석은 Blind field test를 이용하여 전문위원단에 의해 주관적인 물성 평가를 실시하여 국내.외 남성용 소모직물의 물성을 비교.분석하였다. Blind field test는 촉감(부드러움, 탄력감), 색상(선명도, 심색미), 외관(깨끗함, 자연광택), 비교 선호도 등으로 4개군으로 test는 총 7개의 평가항목으로 나누어 전문평가단에 의해 주관적으로 평가하였다.

        To prepare weather-resistant modified silane acrylic resin coatings for an architectural purpose, tetrapolymers were synthesized by radical polymerization. 3-Methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane (MPTS) as a silicone monomer and n-butyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate, and n-butyl methacrylate as acrylic monomers were used. The composition of monomers was adjusted to fix the glass transition temperature of acrylic polymer for 20℃. The composition of MPTS in the synthesized polymer were varied from 10 wt% to 30 wt%. On the basis of synthesized resin amber paints were prepared and their physical properties and effects on weatherability were examined. The presence of MPTS in modified silane acrylic resins generally resulted in low molecular weight and broad molecular weight distribution, and also lowered the viscosity of the copolymers. The coated films prepared from these resins showed good and balanced properties in general. Adhesion to the substrate was outstanding in particular. Weatherability tests were carried out in three different types such as outdoor exposure, QUV, and SWO. The test results showed that the modified silane acrylic resins containing 30 wt% of MPTS had superior weathering properties.
