        PURPOSES : Concrete, which is a construction material, is the most widely used compression material; however, unlike steel, it exhibits nonlinear material characteristics. Therefore, to examine the behavior of structures under the nonlinear conditions of concrete materials, one must select an appropriate numerical-analysis technique and a reasonable material model. When performing the nonlinear numerical analysis of a structure using general-purpose structural analysis software, the stress–strain curve or the Mohr–Coulomb failure criterion is typically employed to consider the nonlinear material characteristics. In this study, an efficient nonlinear numerical analysis is conducted by defining the stress–strain curves and Mohr–Coulomb parameters applicable to Strand7 to examine and design the stability of reinforced concrete structures. METHODS : This study was conducted by improving existing data. Based on the tensile region of the concrete stress–strain curve presented in a simple shape and the results of the splitting test, the proposed Mohr–Coulomb parameter was improved based on regulations stipulated in the design standards of concrete structures. The characteristics and usability of the improved material models were examined using concrete splitting tensile and bending models. RESULTS : A yield area distribution similar to that of the reference data is obtained when the Mohr–Coulomb material model is used in the numerical analysis of the concrete splitting tension, thus confirming the validity of the model. In the Mohr–Coulomb material model, nonlinear resistance continues even after the maximum reaction force occurs. However, when the stress–strain curve material model is applied, at the moment the maximum reaction force occurs, the material yields and begins to be damaged. In addition, by applying the Mohr–Coulomb material model to the bending numerical-analysis model, the magnitude of stress in the tensile region from the initial stage exceeds the yield stress defined in the stress–strain curve. CONCLUSIONS : Based on a series of examples, the usability of the proposed concrete stress–strain curve and Mohr–Coulomb parameters is confirmed. However, to obtain numerical-analysis results that are consistent with the nonlinear behavior of actual structures, nonlinear testing of reinforced concrete structures shall be conducted and material models shall be improved.

        In recent years the tunnel construction is increasing worldwide because of development of science and technology and increasing of transportation demand. Tunnels are complex structures normally rectangular cross section or semicircular and constructed to connect between different sections of roads. Because of the importance, the construction and extension of road tunnels are also continuously increasing along with the development. According to data from the Korea Expressway Corporation, the number of road tunnels, which was 1,332 in 2010, increased rapidly by about 2.1 times over 10 years to a total of 2,742 in 2020. The extension of road tunnels is also on the trend of increasing, with a total of 945 km in 2010 reaching 2,157 km in 2020. The benefits of a double-deck tunnel are emphasized, particularly in terms of construction cost and convenience. This tunnel design incorporates a central slab, dividing the tunnel into upper and lower spaces. The versatility of a double-decker tunnel is evident in its ability to accommodate various uses for both levels. For instance, the upper level can function as vehicle roads, while the lower level can be designated for train tracks. In this study, the effect of RWS and modified hydrocarbon fire curve was applied to the concrete tunnel bracket through simulation to analyze the temperature after the fire occurrence.

        국내 고속도로의 본선차로 포장은 시공비용이 저렴한 줄눈 콘크리트 포장을 주로 시공하였으나, 최근 유지보수비용이 증가함에 따 라 유지관리비용이 저렴하고 공용성이 뛰어난 연속철근 콘크리트 포장을 확대 적용하고 있는 추세이다. 그러나 본선차로가 연속철근 콘크리트 포장으로 시공될 때 접속차로의 포장은 대부분 줄눈 콘크리트 포장으로 시공하고 있어 서로 다른 포장 형식이 접속함으로 인해 거동 차이가 발생하여 접속부에서 파손이 발생하기도 한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 본선차로 연속철근 콘크리트 포장과 접속차로 줄눈 콘크리트 포장을 시공할 경우 줄눈 간격에 따른 접속차로 줄눈 콘크리트 포장의 응력 특성을 분석하기 위하여 유한요소해석 프 로그램을 이용하여 구조해석을 수행하였다. 줄눈 간격별로 줄눈 콘크리트 포장의 해석모델을 구성하였으며 환경하중인 선형수직온도 경사와 온도하강, 그리고 선형수직온도경사와 온도하강을 동시에 적용하여 해석을 실시하였다. 구조해석 결과, 모든 온도조건에서 줄 눈 간격이 좁아질수록 슬래브와 타이바의 응력이 감소하는 것으로 나타났다.

        최근 인접국가인 일본에서 규모 7.6의 지진이 발생하였다. 이 지진은 대규모의 최초 지진 이후 120회 이상의 여진을 동반하여 지진의 위험성이 두각되었다. 실제로 구조물들은 최초 지진이후 항복하여 지속되는 여진에 의해서도 붕괴될 위험이 있기 때문에 지진 저항력을 향상시킬 필요가 있다. 본 연구에서는 자동복원이 가능한 신소재를 활용하여 지진에 의한 피해를 감소시키면서도 댐퍼와 구조물에 발생되는 잔류변위를 회복시킬 수 있는 자동복원 신소재 댐퍼를 제안한다. 이 댐퍼는 초탄성 형상기억합금과 폴리우레탄으로 구성되며 폴리우레탄에는 선행압축이 적용되어 그로 인한 반발력을 통해 회복특성을 증진시킨 다. 이에 대한 성능을 평가하기 위해 구조실험과 구조실험에 대한 수치해석을 진행하여 댐퍼의 회복특성, 하중특성을 확인하였 다. 또한, OpenSEES프로그램을 활용하여 구조물에 댐퍼를 적용시키고 실제 지진환경에 대한 수치해석을 수행함으로써 지붕변 위, 밑면 전단력 등의 응답을 구하여 자동복원 신소재 댐퍼의 우수성을 검증하였다. 이를 통해 자동복원 신소재 댐퍼를 구조물 에 적용하게 되면 국내 역대 지진 중 가장 규모가 큰 지진이 다시 발생하여도 구조물을 다시 회복할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

        본 연구에서는 수소 자원의 활용도가 높아짐에 따라 수소 저장 용기의 내진 성능을 평가하기 위해 수소 저장 시설을 방문하여 현장 조사를 수행하였다. 외관 조사 중, 수조 저장 용기의 지지부에서 부식이 진행됨을 확인하였고, 이에 대한 대책안 으로 내부식성 재료인 CFRP로 대체하여 성능을 평가, 검증하였다. 이를 위해 현장 조사 결과를 바탕으로 상용 유한요소해석 프 로그램인 ABAQUS를 사용하였으며, 해석 결과 CFRP로 제작된 수소 저장 용기의 지지부는 강재 대비 약 12배 이상 뛰어난 성 능을 보였다. Hashin Damage Criteria를 기반으로 CFRP 지지부의 안전성 검토를 수행한 결과 최대 손상 지수가 0.065로 확인되 었다. 기초부 콘크리트의 경우, 쪼갬 및 휨 인장 응력에 대한 안전성을 검토하였으며, 허용 강도 대비 7~36%의 안전도를 보였 다. 이를 근거로 CFRP를 수소 저장 용기의 지지부에 적용하는 것은 합리적이며, 뛰어난 경제성을 보인다. 다만, 이러한 결과는 수치 해석에 의하므로 실규모 지진동 모사 시험을 통해 해석 모델의 신뢰성을 보충할 필요가 있다.

        In this study, a numerical analysis study was conducted on the flow characteristics according to the internal flow path change and differential pressure of the hydrogen shut-off valve, and through this, the pressure loss characteristics and flow coefficient of the hydrogen shut-off valve were predicted. ANSYS CFX program was used to predict the flow characteristics of the hydrogen shut-off valve. When the flow path gap was 1.3 mm, the design conditions of the hydrogen shut-off valve were satisfied, and the value of the flow coefficient of the valve was about 1.53. As the inlet pressure of the hydrogen shut-off valve increases, the outlet flow rate increases, but regardless of the inlet pressure, the flow coefficient of the valve is almost constant, ranging from 1.53 to 1.56, indicating that it is the inherent flow coefficient of the designed hydrogen shut-off valve.

        The Barcelona Basic Model (BBM) is an elasto-plastic model used to describe the coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical behaviors of unsaturated soil. BBM is frequently adopted to model the unique swelling behavior of bentonite, which is generally considered as the buffer material between the host rock and the canister containing high-level radioactive waste in deep geological repositories, under the changing thermal, hydraulic, mechanical and chemical conditions during the lifetime of repository. Therefore, a variety of the continuum-based numerical methods tried to add the BBM for modelling the multi barrier systems of geological repository and succeeded to describe the elasto-plastic deformation of bentonite. However, to demonstrate the entire barrier systems the host rock should be modelled simultaneously with the buffer materials, and the continuum-based methods may be limited in their ability to reflect the fracture networks in the host rock which could be the major flow channels of groundwater. This research applies BBM in 3DEC, a three-dimensional block-based discrete element method, and validates the model by comparing the change of specific volume and mean effective stress during three numerical test cases. Discontinuum-based numerical methods with BBM can be extended to describe the coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical processes of multi-barrier systems in geological repositories, with a focus on the interaction between the host rock and bentonite.

        The domestic shipbuilding industry is building high-value-added ships such as LNG and LPG, and the demand for natural gas, a clean energy source, is continuously increasing. Climate change, such as global warming, is occurring due to rising oil prices and excessive use of fossil fuels. To protect their homes from the changing environment, 121 countries announced intensive climate target policies to reduce carbon emissions to 0% by 2050. In this study, modeling and design were performed using SUS410 and SUS304L about the operating part of the Pilot valve based on the physical properties of the aluminum alloy used in the Pilot valve, a component of the gas pressure Regulating valve for LNG ships. Numerical We want to develop the optimal Pilot valve by comparing and analyzing the results using ANSYS, an analysis simulation program.

        In this study, a vibrating nozzle using the waste vibration energy of the compressor body was installed in the suction flow path to improve the efficiency of the compressor through the pre-compression. To this end, the behavior of the suction valve according to the vibrating nozzle and the mass flow rate of the refrigerant entering the compression chamber were numerically analyzed. The results showed that the mass flow rate increased proportionally as the angle of the vibration nozzle increased. Among the profile shapes of the vibration nozzle, the concave or straight shape showed the highest mass flow rate. Considering the ease of machining, the straight shape is more favorable. On the other hand, as the operating frequency and stroke of the vibration nozzle increased, the mass flow rate also increased proportionally. It can be seen that the largest nozzle angle, operating frequency, and stroke are favorable for pre-compression unless the suction flow is restricted.. In the future, it is necessary to apply the vibrating nozzle system to an actual compressor model to experimentally check the compressor's cooling power, compression work and EER.

        PURPOSES : This study aims to understand the effect of defective dowel bar installation on jointed concrete pavement (JCP), which can cause joint freezing, spalling, cracking, and faulting and finally shorten the lifespan of the pavement. METHODS : A comprehensive field survey was undertaken at an expressway construction site in South Korea to assess dowel bar installation conditions. In addition, finite element (FE) analysis was used to simulate JCP behavior with both vertical and horizontal dowel misalignments. Different temperature conditions, including a change of -55 °C and gradient of -0.1 °C/mm, were integrated into the FE model to examine horizontal slab contraction and simultaneous slab curling. RESULTS : The analysis revealed pronounced slab behaviors under specific temperature changes, particularly when combined with dowel misalignments. The simultaneous effects of horizontal contraction and slab curling owing to temperature changes and gradients became more evident in the presence of dowel misalignments. CONCLUSIONS : The results confirmed that dowel bar misalignment considerably affected the behavior of the JCP, thereby emphasizing the importance of the proper installation of dowel bars.

        선박 및 교량 구조물은 일종의 길이가 긴 박스형 구조로서 수직 굽힘 모멘트에 대한 저항력이 설계의 주요 인자이다. 특히 선박 거더는 반복적으로 불규칙적인 파랑하중에 장시간 노출되어 있기 때문에 구조부재의 연속 붕괴 거동을 정확하게 예측하는 것이 무엇보다 도 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 순수 휨모멘트를 받는 박스거더의 하중 변화에 따른 좌굴을 포함한 소성 붕괴 거동을 수치해석적 방법을 이용 하여 분석하였다. 분석대상은 Gordo 실험에서 사용한 세 가지 박스거더로 선정하였다. 구조강도 실험 결과와 비선형 유한요소해석에 의한 결과를 비교하여 차이가 발생하는 원인에 대해서 고찰하였다. 본 논문에서는 카본스틸 재료의 제작 시 필연적으로 사용하는 용접열에 의한 초기 처짐의 영향을 반영하기 위하여 전체와 국부적인 처짐 형상의 조합을 제안하였고, 이 결과는 실험 결과와 거동 및 최종강도 추정율이 7% 이내에서 잘 일치하고 있었다. 논문에서 검토한 절차 및 초기 처짐 구성에 대한 내용은 향후 유사 구조물의 최종강도를 분석하는데 좋 은 지침으로 사용할 수 있다.

        In this study, we performed thermal safety design of the electric module of a heat-loaded equipment with consideration of its heat dissipation performance. Initially, we calculated the heat dissipation of natural convection to choose a cooling method. Based on this, we found that some modules required forced convection and selected an air-cooling method with an outdoor temperature of 43 degrees Celsius, which is the maximum temperature in Korea. Prior to module production, we performed thermal analysis of each module and proceeded with a design to increase the thermal conductivity of the module as a primary step, and subsequently proceeded with Heat Sink design to maximize the heat dissipation performance. After considering various constraints according to the system requirements and designing the cooling path, we experimentally and analytically secured thermal safety at the operating temperature of the equipment.

        Abstract The compressor of a refrigerator accounts for approximately 60-80% of the total energy consumption necessary for the refrigeration cycle. This study investigates the implementation of a pre-compression system featuring a vibrating nozzle, with the goal of enhancing the efficiency of a linear compressor. By utilizing this pre-compression system, the cooling capacity and efficiency of the compressor are expected to improve. The numerical results show that the pre-compression system leads to an improvement of approximately 1.7% in cooling capacity compared to the baseline model. Furthermore, an increase of approximately 0.1 in EER was observed, confirming the feasibility of incorporating a pre-compression system with a vibrating nozzle.

        Various linear system solvers with multi-physics analysis schemes are compared focusing on the near-field region considering thermal-hydraulic-chemical (THC) coupled multi-physics phenomena. APro, developed at KAERI for total system performance assessment (TSPA), performs a finite element analysis with COMSOL, for which the various combinations of linear system solvers and multi-physics analysis schemes should to be compared. The KBS-3 type disposal system proposed by Sweden is set as the target system and the near-field region, which accounts for most of the computational burden is considered. For comparison of numerical analysis methods, the computing time and memory requirement are the main concerns and thus the simulation time is set up to one year. With a single deposition hole problem, PARDISO and GMRESSSOR are selected as representative direct and iterative solvers respectively. The performance of representative linear system solvers is then examined through a problem with an increasing number of deposition holes and the GMRES-SSOR solver with a segregated scheme shows the best performance with respect to the computing time and memory requirement. The results of the comparative analysis are expected to provide a good guideline to choose better numerical analysis methods for TSPA.

        In this study, a numerical analysis was performed as steady-state analysis to investigate the effect of interference between the propellers of the hexa-copter. As the distance increases, there is little change in thrust, but when a propeller close to the reference propeller rotates, it was confirmed that the thrust decreased due to the interference effect. Unsteady state analysis was performed to confirm the influence of the hexa-copter fuselage. If there is a fuselage, the thrust was predicted to increase by about 4.97% due to the ground effect. If the design parameters are established considering the effect of the fuselage of the hexa-copter, it is expected to be used for basic design and application design in the future.
