주왕산 국립공원의 자연보존지구를 중심으로 분포하고 있는 천연림의 생육현황과 구조를 정확히 파악하고자, 이 지역에 21개의 방형구(20×20m)를 설치하여 식생을 조사하였다. Cluster 분석한 결과 두 개의 집단으로 분류되었다. 수종간의 상관관계는 서어나무와 물푸레나무, 졸참나무와 굴참나무, 생강나무와 국수나무 등의 수종들 간에는 비교적 높은 정의 상관관계를, 고로쇠나무와 쇠물푸레, 당단풍과 굴참나무 둥의 수종들 간에는 높은 부의 상관관계를 보였다. 본 조사지의 종다양도는 1.1306~l.2688로 비교적 높게 나타났다.

To investigate the structure and the conservation strategy of natural forest at Nature Conservation Area in Chuwangsan, 21 plots(20×20m) set up with random sampling method. Two groups were classified by cluster analysis. High positive correlations was proved between Carpinus laxiflora and Fraxinus rynchophylla, Quercus serrata and Quercus variabilis, Lindera obtusiloba and Stephanandra incisa and High negative correlations was proved between Acer mono and Fraxinus sieboldana, Acer pseudo-sieboldianum and Quercus variabilis. Species diversity(H') of investigated area was calculated 1.1306~1.2688.
