初等學校漢字敎育은 단지 漢字학습에 그치는 것이 아니라 교과서에 있는 ‘敎科漢字語’의 의미를 올바르고 효율적으로 익히는데 그 목적이 있다. 특히 우리말 을 정확하게 구사하기 위해서도 漢字敎育은 반드시 필요하다. 한글 전용정책이 시행된 후 오늘에 이르기까지 학생들은 교과용 한자어를 漢字學習을 통해 익혀 온 것이 아니라 한글 낱말을 그 뜻과 함께 注入式· 暗記式으로 학습하였다. 이러 한 학습 방식은 대단히 비효율적일 뿐만 아니라 학습효과도 기대할 수 없는 것이 다. 漢字의 뜻을 알고 그 漢字語의 의미를 파악한다면 분명히 그 뜻을 정확하게 학습할 수 있다. 또한 初等學校漢字敎育이 私敎育의존도를 높이고 초등학생들 에게 학습 부담을 줄 것이라는 의견도 현재 漢字敎育을 시키고 있는 초등학교에 서 실시한 설문 조사 결과 정반대의 양상을 보이고 있었다. 한글의 우수성은 더 말할 필요가 없다. 그러나 우리는 오랜 세월 漢字文化圈에서 살아왔으며 우리말 의 상당수가 한자어인 것도 부인할 수 없는 사실이다. 漢字와 한글이 수레의 두 바퀴처럼 상호 보완을 할 수 있는 文字· 言語敎育이 우리에게 가장 이상적인 것이다.

Chinese character study in elementary school students, not only study each chinese character but also studey and correct using Korean words which combined chinese character in the elementary school textbooks. especially, chinese character study is essential to correct using Korean. From employ a policy of division only using Korean character in the school to now, students study new words in textbook not by study its combined character study, only by cramming, memorizing method using its sounds. This way to study new words, can not produce satisfactory results, also not productive study methods. One people who know chinese characters meaning, can correct understanding and using new words meaning. some people say chinese character study in elementary school, can more depending unformal education school, give more heave borden to elementary school students. but some research survey have other result what just the opposite. No need to talk about Korean Character's superior. But we have to know , accoring to history, many number of words in the korean which is combined by chinese character. chinese character and Korean character is like a two wheel in the car, its have to complementary cooperation in the Korean language. That is a point what we have to study chinese character in the elementary school students.
