본 연구에서는 일본인 학습자의 한국어 파찰음 발음의 인지 실험과 발화 실험을 함으로써 학습자들의 파찰음 오류의 원인을 밝히고, 그 결과를 발음 교육에 적용하고자 하였다. 실험 결과 일본인 학습자는 어중 위치에서 /ㅈ/를 가장 쉽게 인지하였고, 어두 초성 /ㅉ/를 인지하는 것은 어려워하였다. 발화 실험에서는 어중 초성에서의 /ㅈ/를 가장 쉽게 발화하였고, 어중 초성 /ㅊ/를 발화하는 것을 어려워하였다. 따라서 일본인 학습자에게 파찰음을 교육 할 때는 어두 위치, 어중 위치에서의 발음은 음높이 구별 방법을 일본어의 악센트를 이용하여 교육하면 된다. 그리고 어두 위치에서 마찰 구간의 길이가 길면 격음이고, 짧으면 경음이라는 정보를 제공하여 교육을 하면 보다 효과적인 발음 교육이 될 것이다. 또한 어중 위치에서는 폐쇄지속시간을 제시하여 평음과 경음, 격음을 구별하도록 한다. 특히 경음의 경우 중간에 일본어의 촉음 ‘っ’를 넣어서 발음하도록 지도한다. 마지막으로 마찰 소음의 정도로 구별 하도록 한다. 이는 얇은 종이나 휴지를 이용하여 많이 흔들릴 경우 격음, 전혀 흔들리지 않을 경우 경음, 중간인 경우 평음이라는 정보를 제시하여 세 파찰음을 구별하도록 지도한다.

This study has discovered the pronunciation errors Japanese learners made when they pronounced the affricate among Korean obstruent during performing the speech perception experiment and pronunciation test, and based on this results, the present order of Korean affricate and the effective methods for that order have been proposed. The cognitive test results showed that the subjects recognized easily /ㅈ/ of the initial sound of middle of the word, and recognized hardly /ㅉ/ of the initial sound of head of the word. The pronunciation test result showed that /ㅈ/ of the initial sound of middle of the word was most easy to pronounce while /ㅊ/ of the initial sound of middle of the word was very hard to pronounce. In pronouncing in the middle of the word position, the following pitch of affricate and fortis is low, while the following pitch of lenis obstruent is high. The way how to distinguish these pitches would be also trained using Japanese accent. The duration of closure is presented to distinguish lenis obstruent, fortis and affricate. Especially to train the fortis, guide them to put Japanese sokuon 'っ' during the pronunciation. Finally, those may be distinguish by the degree of friction noise. Using thin paper or tissue, it can be known that strong vibration means affricate, no vibration means fortis and middle vibration means lenis obstruent. This information is also presented to trainees to distinguish three affricates.
