본 연구는 세시풍속 중 하나인 단오 풍속을 유치원에 적합한 교육활동으로 개발하여 적용하는 과정에 참여한 교사와 학부모의 경험을 분석하여 참여과정의 특성을 파악하기 위한 목적으로 수행되었다. 연구대상은 충청북도 유치원 1개소에서 2년간 단오 시기를 중심으로 실시된 1. 2차의 단오풍속 활동에 참여한 원감 1인, 교사 3인과 학부모 자원봉사자로 참여한 유아 어머니 11명이었으며, 연구도구는 연구자가 제작한 개방형 질문지였다. 자료분석은 질문에 대한 응답내용을 분석하여 범주화하였다. 분석결과에서 나타난 특성을 보면, 단오 교육활동에 참여한 교사와 학부모는 초기에는 준비의 어려움과 익숙하지 않은 활동에 두려움을 느꼈으나 활동을 진행하면서 직접체험의 교육적 의의를 인식하게 되었고, 전통문화에 대한 자긍심과 단오 풍속에 대한 이해를 심화시킨 것으로 나타났다. 교사는 전통문화교육의 필요성을 강하게 느꼈으며 동료 교사와의 정보 교환과 협력에서 많은 도움을 받은 것으로 나타났다. 학부모 자원봉사자들은 자신들에게도 새로운 경험인 단오 교육활동에 참여한 것에 대하여 의의와 보람을 느낀 것으로 나타났다. 또한 교사와 학부모는 단오 교육활동의 활성화를 위해서 직접체험 기회확대와 활동 이행에 필요한 교구․교재 구비 등 실질적인 지원을 요구하였다.
The purpose of this study was to grasp the characteristics of teachers' and parents' experiences in Dano activity at public kindergarten. The subjects were 4 teachers and 11 volunteer mothers of public kindergarten in Chungbuk-Do; they all responded to an open-ended questionnaire developed by the authors. Answers were analyzed and classified into categories. Result showed that they worried about difficulty of preparations and unexperienced activities in the beginning. But during their participations, they recognized that the experiences obtained at first hand are very important in Dano customs. They seemed to deepen the pride and their understanding about Dano customs, and satisfy with the results of activity beyond their expectations. In addition, they said that the practical requirements same as the educational equipments ets., must be met at first for activation of Dano folk customs in kindergarten.
