The Impact of Employees' Perception of Wage Peak System on Job Involvement - Moderating Effect of Organizational Citizenship Behavior -
This study is an empirical research to analyze the relationship between the employees’ perception of wage peak system and work attitude. The wage peak system has recently drawn attention from both academia and business, and we explained the importance of the wage peak system and the theoretical backgrounds. The first hypothesis was that there is a positive relationship between the employees’ positive perception of the wage peak system and their job involvement. In addition to it, the second hypothesis was that the organizational citizenship behavior(OCB) moderates the relationship between the employees’ positive perception of the wage peak system and their job involvement. A survey based on the convenience sampling method was conducted for the employees of 19 companies in Korea, and 200 questionnaires were analyzed. Results of multiple regression analyses showed that the relationship between the employees’ positive perception of the wage peak system and the job involvement was positively significant. That is, the employees’ positive perception of the wage peak system leads to the employees’ job involvement. And, OCB positively moderated the relationship between the employees’ positive perception of the wage peak system and the job involvement. That is, when employees assess their OCB as high, the positive relationship between the perception of the wage peak system and the job involvement becomes relatively stronger. Theoretical and managerial implications of these empirical results were discussed.
