본 연구는 도시생활원예에 참여하고 있거나 참여한 경험이 있는 서울과 수도권 도시민들의 도시 생활원예에 대한 생각과 태도와 요구를 알아보기 위하여 수행하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 통계적 분석(상관분석과 다중회귀분석 및 분산분석)을 통하여 얻을 수 있었는데, 본 연구에서는 286명의 시민들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 그로부터 얻을 수 있었던 결과는 다음과 같았다. 첫째로 생활원예에 참여한 경험이 있는 시민들에게서 생활원예에 참여한 기간은 그들의 도시 생활원예 필요성 인식에 밀접한 영향을 미치고 있었으며, 도시 생활원예 필요성에 대한 인식은 다시 도시 생활원예에 대한 교육과 정책에 대한 요구인식으로 나타나고 있었다. 둘째로 농촌지역에서 거주한 기간과 생활원예 경험 및 원예 관련용어 인지 경험에 따른 도시 생활원예 필요성에 대한 인식에 대하여 알아보았다. 그 결과 도시 생활원예의 필요성과 관련된 인식의 차이는 농촌지역에서 거주한 경험을 갖고 있거나 생활원예 경험을 갖고 있는 사람들이 그렇지 않은 사람들의 경우에 비하여 도시 생활원예의 필요성에 대한 인식을 많이 갖고 있는 것으로 통계를 통해 입증되었다. 그러므로 중앙정부 및 교육 당국자와 지방정부에서는 도시 생활원예의 보급과 확산을 위한 적절한 원예교육과 정책수단을 마련하여야 할 것이다. 덧붙여, 도시 생활원예 관련 학계에서는 시민들에게 도시 생활원예를 보급할 수 있는 체계적인 방안을 반드시 준비해야 할 것이다.

This study was carried out to investigate the thoughts and the attitudes and the needs on urban living horticulture between Seoul and suburban citizens who have participation and experience of urban living horticulture. The results of this study were obtained through a statistical analysis(correlation and multiple regression analysis, and one way analysis of variance). we investigated 286 citizens who was participated in this study. The results obtained from this study were as follows; First, the period of participation in living horticulture was higher influenced to the recognition of the need on urban living horticulture in citizens who have experience of living horticulture. The results of this study appeared the recognition of the need containing the educations and the policies for urban living horticulture. Second, we examined the recognition related with the need for urban living horticulture according to have the experience lived in rural areas, the experience in living horticulture and cognitive experiences of the terms associated with horticulture. The difference of recognition related with the need for urban living horticulture dramatically appeared in peoples who have the experience lived in rural areas and the experience in living horticulture, as compared to peoples who have not experienced. Therefore, government and education authorities and local governments will establish the appropriate horticultural education and policy measures for the dissemination or diffusion of urban living horticulture. In addition, academia related to urban living horticulture must prepare a systematic way that can be distributed urban living horticulture for the citizens.
