This study was conducted to investigate the different sampling and dyeing conditions using the raw Rubia on the dyeability of silk, and to appreciate the natural dyein to the silk, widely. Surface color for silk was an order of descent Y and YR extracted by distilled water, however, it was only an order of descent Y extracted by methanol, respectively. Color-fixing effects increased when distilled water as a solvent was used compared with methanol. Surface color of silk was an order of descent dark Y at PH 4 and 9, and color-fixing was increased at higher acids. Surface color of silk was an order of descent Y at lower temperature, and color-fixing was increased at higher temperature. Surface color of silk was not affected by dyeing periods, however, color-fixing effects was increased when dyed for 120 min.
