본 연구에서는 산림으로 복원하기 어려운 폐석산 부지의 적극적인 활용을 통한 지역의 사회·경제적 발전에 기여할 수 있는 몇 가지 개발유형을 발굴하여 이 분야의 연구와 사업에 기초자료를 제공하고자 수행되었다. 본 연구에서는 국내 및 국외에서 기존에 채석·채광지를 타용도로 활용한 사례들을 참고하였고 사회·문화·관광·휴양·산업 부분에서 채석장 부지를 활용할 수 있는 아이템들을 발굴하였으며 최종적으로 활용 가능한 아이템들을 주제별로 유형화하였다. 그 결과 폐석산의 개발유형을 크게 레저시설형, 휴양타운형, 수목원형, 석재 테마공원형, 시설활용형, 근교농업시설형 등 6가지 영역으로 유형화하였다. 레저시설형에는 종합레포츠시설, 유격장·서바이벌 게임장, 골프장을 포함시켰고, 휴양타운형에는 산림치유공원, 유스호스텔, 노인휴양·요양시설, 가족농원단지(Kleingarten)를 포함시켰다. 수목원형에는 수목원(arboritum)과 생태공원(eco-park)을 포함시켰고, 석재 테마공원형에는 조각·꽃·Music Stone 공원, light stone park, fountain·waterfall park, miniature park, 암각공원을 포함시켰다. 그리고 시설활용형에는 공연시시설과 산업지원시 설(물류시설, 영상산업 지원시설, 신·재생에너지 자원화 시설)을 포함시켰다. 마지막으로 근교농업시설형에는 친환경농업 생산단지와 주말농장을 포함시켰다. 본 연구에서 제안한 각각의 개발유형들은 암석의 종류, 잔벽의 형태, 면적, 위치 등 채석장의 조건과 인구, 문화, 관광, 산업, 경제, 교통 등 지역의 인문사회적 조건을 고려하여 도입될 수 있다.

This study was carried out to discover some development models of abandoned quarry sites which can contribute to the social economy‘s development. And with this purpose, I can provide a basic data for it's similar research and business. In this study, I referred to examples of local and international current study of quarrying and mining site that used for all sorts of things. Also I discovered some items that can utilize quarry sites by society, culture, recreation and industry. I classified these available items by six models; leisure sports facilities model, resort city model, arboretum model, stone theme park model, utilize facilities model, agriculture in suburban areas model. Leisure sports facilities model include comprehensive sports complex, leisure and extreme sports complex, guerrilla training and survivor game field, cycling and roller skating stadium. Resort city model includes forest healing park, youth hostel, elderly care facilities, family farms. Arboretum model includes arboretum and eco-park. Also Stone theme park model includes sculpture·flower·music stone park, light stone park, fountain·waterfall park, miniature park, rock art park. And Utilize facilities model includes theater facility, industrial support facility(distribution facilities, image industry support facility, new & renewable energy recycling facility). Lastly, agriculture in suburban areas model includes environmentally-friendly agriculture production complex and weekend farm. Each development models in this study are applied in consideration of human-social conditions including population, culture, leisure, industry, economy, traffic. And it also considered quarry closed's conditions including type of rocks, shape of stone wall, area, location.
