본고는 1920년대 천도교 기관지 『개벽』에 실린 시편을 중심으로 김소월과 동 학(천도교) 사상 사이의 관계를 밝히고자 하였다. 김소월이 『개벽』에 발표한 산 문시  자리 는 동학의 범신론적 세계관을 형상화한다는 점에서 주목할 필요가 있다. 인도의 우파니샤드 철학을 바탕을 둔 타고르의 시편은 ‘님’을 초월적인 신 격으로 보고 현실을 해탈의 대상으로 보는 반면에, 김소월의 산문시는 ‘님’을 인 간에 내재한 생성 원리로 보고 현실의 삶 자체를 긍정한다. 소월의 깁흔구멍 에 서 ‘님’은 생성 원리로서의 천(天)과 가깝다. 이 작품에서 천(天)은 인간의 삶을 초월하여 있는 존재가 아니라, 모든 인간[人]의 마음속에 내재[乃]한는 존재로 그려진다. 김소월이 『개벽』에 마지막으로 발표한 시 신앙(信仰) 에서도 ‘신 (神)’은 모든 인간의 가슴속에 내재하여 있는 존재라고 하며, 생명 자체를 긍정 하는 힘이라고 하였다. 『개벽』에 소월이 처음으로 발표한 동시(童詩)들은 ‘봄’ 의 기호를 등장시키는 동시에 대립적 요소의 결합이라는 시적 기법을 활용함으 로써, 단순한 언어를 통하여 생성 원리 자체를 표현하였다.

This research attempts to interpret the relationship between So-wol Kimand Donghak (Cheondogyo) by focusing on his works published in “Gaebyeok.” The implication of his pseudonym can be interpreted with considering the historical context, that So-wol Kim desired to defend Korea’s national identity against imperialism and pursued equality against the discrimination of the feudal system. Especially, the northwestern region of Korea, which was the regional background of So-wol Kim’s life, had a locality that accepted the idea of Cheondogyo in the aspiration for equality. While Tagore’s poetry regarded the life of the present world as an object to be denied, So-wol Kim’s prose poems in “Gaebyeok” positively represented the reality as an expression of the creative divinity. A conclusive evidence about the relationship between So-wol Kim and Choendogyo can be found in his poem “The Faith.” Additionally, his poems on children express the infinite and creative movement of life dynamically and simply, confronting the oppressive order of the adult-male.
