본 연구에서는 여성결혼이민자의 특성과 열린 읽기(Extensive Reading)와의 관계를 밝히고 일반적인 열린 읽기와 비교하여 여성결혼 이민자의 특성과 교실 환경에 맞는 변형된 열린 읽기 수업의 적용 방안으로 묵독이 아닌 소리내어 읽기, 대화하며 읽기 등의 기법 활용, 읽기 도우미(Reading supporter) 배치, 교실 밖과의 연계를 위한 SNS 활용 등 실제적으로 효과가 있는 구체적인 방안을 제시했다는 것에 의 의가 있다. 또한 이러한 수업을 통해 여성결혼이민자들의 정의적 영역(자신감 상승, 흥미도 등) 및 이해도에 긍정적인 효과가 있음을 밝혔으나, 구체적인 수업의 효과에 대해서는 입증하지 못한 것이 앞으로의 과제이다.

This study is significant in clarifying the relationship between the characteristics of the married woman Immigrants and the extensive reading and in suggesting the detailed methods which could actually work as the application plans for the modified reading classes suitable for the characteristics of the married woman Immigrants and class environment, including reading aloud, not reading silently, reading along with talking, assignment of reading supporters, and the use of SNS for connecting with the out-of-class activities. Further, while the class in this method is proved to be effective in the affective aspects ( a rise in confidence, interest, and etc.), the remaining tasks are to prove its concrete effectiveness during the classes.
