『네 사중주』 와 기독교는 서로 밀접한 관계가 형성된다는 것은 주지의 사실이다. 이 연구는 특히 이 작품 전체의 주제를 포괄하고 있는 두 종류의 제사만이 담고 있는 독특한 특성에 대해서 고찰해 보았다. 그리고 그 의미가 네 사중주 전체에 어떻게 삼투되었는가를 조명했다. 제사가 중심을 잃은 현대인의 생활상에 대한 묘사를 나타내듯 엘리엇은 네 사중주 전체의 주제를 중심에서 이탈한 현대인들의 바른 중심 찾기로 일관하고 있다. 그 방법이 하나님과 완벽한 조화를 형성하는 것에 있다는 것이 본 연구의 결과이다.

As it is well known, the main theme of T. S. Eliot’s Four Quartets is the relationship between God and a man. Thus this paper is to trace the relationships more concretely by way of inspecting the Bible. Eliot’s main claim is that we should trek and obey God’s word. Contrastingly, a modern man neglects this logic and acts as if his thought and decision were the best. Eliot, through his Four Quartets, wants us to return to God and His word, that is, seeking for the center. God is the center and the man is the subcategory which God created.
