본 글은 교도소 수형자들의 자살이 문제시되고 있다는 점에서 자살을 예측 할 수 있는 측면을 찾아 도움을 주려는 것이 목적이다. 자살에 대한 예측지수를 논하기 전에 정신적으로 건강한 조건이 무엇인지를 제시하였다. 왜냐하면 그 자살 자체가 정상이 아닌 상태에서 실행되기 때문이다. 지금 까지 연구 결과에서 보면, 자살과 높은 상관을 갖는 것은 기분장애이다. 기분장애는 우울증, 조증 그리고 혼재성이 포함되는데, 이들 중에서도 우울증이 가장 높은 상관을 갖는다. 또한 우울증은 인지적, 동기적, 행동적, 신체적 측면으로 나누인다. 각 측면에서 나타내는 행동과 사고유형이 바로 자살을 예측하는 지수라고 간주된다. 자살에 대한 보다 구체적인 예측지수는 자해 행위이며, 연령별에 따른 자살회수에 따라서 자살의 가능성이 제시된다. 또한 자살과 관련해서 지적되어 온 변인들은 자살 시도 경험, 알코올과 약물남용의 개인사, 가족의 자살 같은 것들이다. 교도소 내에서 자살 건수가 일 년에 10 여건 정도 발생된다. 그러나 그 숫자는 전체에 비해서 아주 미미한 것이지만, 자살은 암시적 효과를 가지므로 간과되기 어렵다. 타인의 자살을 예측한 다는 것은 모든 학문의 복합적 노력이 경주되어야 한다. 그런 의미에서 보면, 여러 학문의 다각적 접근이 필요하다. 그러나 본 연구는 심리학적 고찰이라는 점, 경험적 연구가 아니다. 그런 점을 감안해서 보다 경험적 연구가 뒤따라야 한다.

This study is aimed to help and predict the aspects relating to prisoner's suicide in prisons. The problem of suicide is very important for correctional official. Before discussion about the prediction indexes of suicide, What the conditions to the normal psychologically are explained. Because suicide are performed in state which the mind of them is not normal. In the light of that researches have been conducted, suicide is highly correlated to disorders of mood. It concludes depression, mania and mixed ??? and of them, depression is the highest correlation. Also, depression is divided into cognitive, motivational, behavioral, and physical aspects. The types of thoughts and behaviors which is showed from each one are indexes of suicide. Most concrete index of prediction to suicide is self-injurious behavior. The frequency of self-harmful behaviors represents the possibility of suicide. The frequency of self-injurious behaviors is different from by age and the it tells the possibility of suicide. The history taking alcohol and drug, experiences of suicide, family members who had taken suicide, etc are the variables which mean suicide. The number of suicides in prisons cross the nation is said more or less than 10. It is very few, comparing with the total. However suicide in prisons gives the suggestion effect to others. The prediction of suicide should be mixed with all academic fields. In the light of such a meaning, the prediction to prisoner's suicide is needed to taking all of them. However this study is for psychologically literature review and is not for experiential one. For the reason, more practical study must be followed.
