본 연구의 목적은 프로골프 관람객의 관람동기를 질적 분석을 통하여 심층적으로 이해하는데 있다. 연구대상자는 한국여자 프로골프 선수권대회(KLPGA)을 관람한 346명(남: 191명, 여: 155명)이었으며, 참여동기는 개방형 질문지를 통하여 자료를 수집하였다. 그 결과 1,013개의 원자료들이 반응되었으며 이는 다시 3단계 주제 범주화 방법을 통하여 내용분석 되었다. 도출된 골프 관람객의 관람동기는 긍정적 정서경험, 건강, 대리학습, 즐거움(재미), 이벤트, 여가활동의 6개 영역이었다. 관람동기에 대한 성차 분석에서는 남성이 대리학습, 즐거움(재미)의 영역에서 중요하게 반응하였으며, 여성은 건강, 즐거움(재미) 영역에서 높은 반응빈도를 보였다.
본 연구의 결과는 왜 인간이 스포츠 또는 운동에 유인되어 참여하고, 지속하는가에 대한 해석에 기초자료로서 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

Purpose of this study is to examine the participation motivation of pro golf galleries through the quantitative analysis. Of particular interest was Pro-golf spectators(191 male and 155 females) responded to and open-ended question on participation motives. A total of 1,013 responses were recorded and content-analyzed, participants motives derive from 6 major "positive emotion", "health", "improve technic", "pleasure(enjoyment)", "event", "leisure activity". Male tend to endorse "improve technic", "pleasure(enjoyment)", female reported "health", "pleasure"(enjoyment)" more than male.
