이 글에서는 최근 각광을 받고 있는 넛지의 이념적 기초와 쟁점에 대해 살펴보고, 도덕교육에의 적용 가능성과 한계를 검토한 후 도덕교육의 보완적 수단으로서의 넛지 전략에 대해 논의하였다. 넛지의 기본 관점은, 개인이 올바른 선택을 이끌어낼 수 있는 환경을 조성하고 설계하면 개인의 복지와 공공의 이익을 증진시킬 수 있는 선택과 행동을 유도할 수 있다는 것이다. 그러나 이러한 시도에 대해, 자유의지의 침해, 미끄러운 비탈길 속성으로 말미암은 극단적 통제와 조종의 가능성과 같은 비판이 제기된다.
하지만 그러한 비판은 넛지가 그 자체로 이로운 것인지에 대해 논의할 가치가 충분함에도 불구 하고 그러한 문제를 논외로 치는 경향을 보인다. 오히려 넛지는 복잡한 선택에 직면한 사람들이 올바른 선택을 하게끔 도움을 주어 그들이 진정한 자유를 확보하는데 기여할 수 있으며, 학교 현장에서 보다 부드럽고 때로는 유쾌한 방식으로 학생들의 바람직한 행동을 이끄는 지도 방식이 될 수 있다.
따라서 도덕수업 및 생활지도에 활용 가능한 넛지 전략으로서 공지와 공언을 활용한 도덕 토론, 내러티브를 활용한 메시지 구성, 디폴트 규칙을 활용한 도덕적 캠페인, 재미와 흥미를 활용한 시설물 고안, 창의적이고 교육적인 디자인을 활용한 실천 유도 방식을 제안해 보았다.
이러한 방식은 경직된 전통적 교과지도 및 생활지도에서 탈피하여 보다 부드럽고 때로는 유쾌한 방식으로 바람직한 행동을 추구하도록 이끌 수 있다. 즉, 넛지는 학생 인권을 존중하면서도 효과적인 생활지도를 수행하기 위한 유용한 수단이 될 수 있다.

This paper reviews Nudge's ideological foundation and issues, and then discusses the applicability and limitations of moral education and utilizing a nudge strategy as a complementary means of moral education.
The basic view of Nudge is that by creating and designing an environment that allows individuals to make the right choices that this can lead to choices and actions that can enhance individual well-being and the public good. However, criticisms of using this theory, such as the violation of free will, and the possibility of extreme control and manipulation by slippery slope attributes are raised.
As a result of reviewing these issues, the findings indicate that it is necessary to approach conservatism when applying Nudge to curriculum guidance in moral education, but it can have a meaningful effect if it is applied to school life guidance as a complementary means with moral education.
