단편영화의 제작에는 비용 등 많은 제약조건이 따를 수밖에 없다. 장편영화의 경우 120분 남짓의 시나리오를 표현하지만 10~30분 정도의 단편영화는 제작 여건에 한계가 발생한다. 이러한 함축적인 내용을 구성하는 데 있어 있는 그대로의 사실을 영상에 담아내는 다큐멘터리 장르는 이를 연출하는데 어려움이 발생할 수밖에 없는 것이 현실이다. 이에 한 인물에 대한 다큐멘터리를 구상할 경우 그 인물의 캐릭터 묘사를 연출자 의도에 맞게끔 함축시키지 않는다면, 관객이 대상 인물의 캐릭터를 수용하는 데 있어서 충분·정확히 혹은 부족하게 받아들일 수밖에 없다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 연구자 본인이 제작한 단편 다큐멘터리 <편곡자>에 등장하는 대한민국 재즈 편곡 1세대 작곡가 맹 원식 선생의 인물묘사를 함에 있어서 그의 현재 발자취를 담아냄과 동시에 과거에서부터 그와 함께했던 지인들의 인터뷰를 생생하게 담아냄으로써 관객과의 소통을 원활히 하고자 하였다. 또한, 이를 관람한 관객들의 수용 태도를 분석하여 제작자의 인물묘사 의도가 수용자에게 효과적으로 전달 가능한가에 대해 고찰하고자하였다. 선행연구를 통해 단편 다큐멘터리 관람기준, 관람선택, 구성만족도, 기여도, 관람동기, 내용이해 및 친밀도에 관한 설문항목을 구성하여 본 작품을 관람한 관객의 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 수집된 내용을 바탕으로 일원분산 배치분석을 통해 그 흐름을 파악하고자 하였다. 본 연구를 통해 단편 다큐멘터리 제작에 있어서 인터뷰 방식은 높은 긍정성과 발전 가능성이 있다는 결론을 도출하였다.

There are many constraints on the production of short films such as costs. In the case of a feature film, a short film of about 120 minutes expresses a scenario, but a short film of about 10 to 30 minutes is limited to production conditions. The reality is that the genre of a documentary that captures the facts as they are in the movie in the form of such implications will have difficulties in producing them. If a documentary on a character is designed to suit the director's intentions, the audience will have to accept the character of the character sufficiently, precisely or poorly. Thus, in this study, he interviewed his friends who wanted to capture his current life and capture him from the past while conducting portraits of the first generation of Korean jazz composer Maeng Won-sik in the short documentary <Arranger>. In addition, the audience's acceptance attitude was analyzed to discuss whether the producer's intention to characterize the film was effectively conveyed to the receptor. The survey was conducted to survey the audience who viewed this work by organizing questionnaires' criteria, viewing choices, composition satisfaction, contribution, audience motivation, content analysis, and intimacy through prior study. Conclusion, this research has led to the conclusion that interview methods are highly positive and promising in producing short documentaries.
