이 연구는 독일의 극단적 극우주의 및 극우테러의 추세 및 특성을 분석하고 이러한 극단주의적 극우주의의 증가의 원인을 분석하였다. 이와 더불어 독일의 극우주의적 범죄와 인종차별범죄, 그리고 반유대인 범죄 등의 증오범죄를 공식적으로 분류하여 기록하고 기소하는 통계와 법률에 대해 소개하였다. 독일은 최근 들어 서구유럽과 미국을 중심으로 그 위협이 증가하는 폭력적 극우주의 및 극우테러의 현상과 형사사법 시스템의 대응에 대한 관련 분석을 제시하기 위해 선정되었다. 연구분석 결과 독일에서는 지속적인 극우주의적 범죄가 보고되고 있던 가운데 2015년 이후 그 양상이 매우 뚜렷하게 증가하고 있다는 점을 보여주었다. 이처럼 독일 내에서 증가하고 있는 폭력적 극우극단주의와 극우테러의 원인으로는 2015년 이후 급증한 난민유입, 독일 국민이 느끼는 유럽연합 내에서의 경제적 박탈감, 최근 수년간 걸쳐 발생한 이슬람 극단주의 지하디스트들에 의한 유럽 내에서의 테러, 난민들의 범죄, 그리고 정치적 분야에서의 독일 국민들 사이에 높아진 반난민, 제노포비아 등을 겨냥한 포플리즘적 프로파간다가 모두 영향을 미친 것으로 분석하였다. 그리고 이 연구는 독일에서의 극우극단주의 범죄의 공식적 통계기록에 극우극단주의, 인종차별주의, 반유대주의 등의 범죄를 구별하는 통계활용에 대해 소개하고 있다. 이 연구의 결론부분에서 연구분석결과의 국내의 상황에서도 시사점과 적용가능성이 제안되었다.

This purpose of this current study has two folds: First, it aims to investigate the trends, patterns and characteristics of violent far right-wing extremism and terrorism in Germany. Second, this study has a purpose to examine factors contributed the increased risk of far right-wing extremism and terrorism in Germany. In Germany, the reported cases of far right-wing violence and terrorism incidences are increased from the early 1990s. Most of all, since the year of 2015 when there has been rapid increase of refugee migrations into Germany, violence and crime motivated by far right-wing ideology and hate are rapidly increased. The author identified several important faactors contributed the increased risk of far right wing violence. Also, this study introduced the official crime report statistics by the National Police of Germany classifies which provides detailed information regarding right-wing extremism crimes. The Police Crime Statistics in Germany classifies right-wing crimes as anti-Semitic crimes, extreme right0wing crimes and xenophobic crimes. In concision, this study discussed and suggested policy implications in terms of police statistics classifications of hate crime and counter masures against extremism crimes in South Korea.
