이 논문은 음악적인 요소가 특정 장르의 영화에서 어느 정도의 유사성을 가지는지에 대한 연구이다. 특정 영화 장르에서 소재와 주제, 성격묘사, 플롯, 시각적 배경 등의 요소가 공통점을 보이는 것 같이, 음악 또한 같은 장르의 영화 내에서 어떠한 유사성을 가지며 특징을 나타내는지 범죄영화 중에서도 도박 소재의 영화를 통해서 살펴보았다. 본 연구에서는 국내 브랜드의 대표적인 도박영화인 <타짜>시리즈의 음악적 특징을 분석하였고 도박 소재의 미국 영화인 <신시내티의 도박사(The Cincinnati Kid)>, <라운더스(Rounders)>와의 비교를 통하여 음악적인 공통점을 도출하였다. 음악의 삽입 지점(spotting), 멜로디, 화성, 편곡, 관현악법, 악기편성 등을 분석한 결과로 결정적인 순간의 대비적인 악상, 페달 포인트와 지속음의 사용, 크게 드러나지 않는 선율과 패턴적인 음형, 여린 트레몰로 주법, 비브라폰의 사용 등이 해당 영화음악들의 두드러지는 특징임을 알 수 있었다. 또한 이러한 음악적 특성이 드러나는 원인으로는 정적인 특성이 두드러지는 하이라이트 장면과 작은 음량의 효과음 등을 꼽을 수 있었다.

How similar are the musical elements in a particular genre of movies? Similar to materials, subjects, character descriptions, plots, and visual backgrounds that have similarities in certain movie genres, film music will also have some common features in the same genre of movies. Among crime films, I would like to look through gambling movies. In this study, I analyzed the musical characteristics of the <Tazza> series, which are representative gambling movies of Korean brands, and derived commonalities of music through comparison with the American Gambling movies <The Cincinnati Kid> and <Rounders>. The following results were obtained by analyzing the spotting, melody, harmony, arrangement, orchestration, and instrumentation of these soundtracks. Contrast of decisive moments, the use of pedal points and sustained sounds, inconspicuous melodies and patterned sounds, the use of soft tremolo and vibraphone were common features of this kind of film music. Further, calm highlight scenes and quiet sound effects appear to be responsible for this musical trait.
