신자유주의적 세계화의 확산은 경제적 양극화를 심화시키고 있다. 일례로 세계 인구의 20% 정도를 차지하는 북부(Global North)는 전 세계 수입의 85% 이상을 장악하고 있다. 또한 한국을 위시한 대다수 국가에서 중산층이 몰락하면서 빈부격차가 점증하고 있다. 이러한 시대적 상황에 주목하면서 필자는 본고에서 성서적, 신학적, 선교학적 관점에서 경제적 양극화 현상을 탐구한다. 먼저 II장에서는 경제적 양극화에 대한 통계적 정보가 소개된다. 다음으로 III장과 IV장에서는 빈곤 및 사회정의에 대한 성서적, 신학적 성찰이 각각 소개된다. 특히 IV장은 민중신학을 중심으로 경제적 불평등 현상이 고찰된다. 마지막으로 V장에서는 빈부격차 문제에 대한 선교학적 통찰이 미시오 데이의 통전성과 연계되어 제시된다. 본고의 연구 결과, 신자유주의적 세계화가 요청하는 성서적, 신학적, 선교학적 당위이자 과제는 경제적 샬롬이다. 따라서 미시오 데이에 통전적으로 부름 받은 선교적 교회는 시대적 과업인 경제적 양극화의 완화 및 해소를 위해 자신에게 부여된 예언자적 사명을 충실히 실천해 나가야 한다.

The worldwide diffusion of neo-liberal globalization is accelerating economic polarization. For instance, global North has 23% of the world’s population but 85% of the world’s income, while global South has 77% of the world’s population but 15% of the world’s income. With this phenomenon in mind, this researcher aims at exploring economic polarization from biblical, theological and missiological perspectives. As a result of this study, economic shalom turns out to be the focus of God’s mission in the worldwide spread of wealth polarization. The church which finds its identity in God’s holistic mission, therefore, must function as the prophetic community decreasing economic inequality to the resultant extent of spreading economic shalom on the face of the earth.
