본 논문의 목적은 제4차 산업혁명의 구성요소에 대한 일반대중의 관심이 지속 또는 증가하는가, 그리고 그 관심의 분포에 국제성이 있는가를 실 증적으로 검증하는 것이다. 연구방법으로는 2018년 5월 기준 전 세계 검색량의 90%를 차지하고 있는 검색 포털사이트인 구글이 제공하는 구글트렌드를 활용한 빅데이터 툴을 활용하였다. 이와 관련 기존의 실증적 연구의 대상이 제4차 산업혁명 또는 그 유사개념에 대한 일반 대중의 관심에 있었다면, 본 논문은 그 검증 대상을 제4차 산업혁명을 뒷받침하는 실질적 핵심기술과 새로운 패러다임으로 구체화하였다. 문헌고찰을 통해 제4차 산업혁명 핵심기술 키워드로서 인공지능(Artificial Intelligence, AI), 사물인터넷(Internet of Things, IoT), 빅데이터(Big Data), 클라우드컴퓨팅(Cloud Computing), 모바일(Mobile), 블록체인(Block Chain), 3D프린팅(Three Dimensional Printing), 로봇(Robot), 가상・증강현실(Virtual・Augment Reality), 사이버물리시스템(Cyber-physical System, CPS), 스마트팩토리 (Smart Factory)의 11개 키워드를, 제4차 산업혁명으로 창출된 패러다임으로서 O2O(Online to Offline), 공유경제(Sharing Economy), 플랫폼경제 (Platform Economy), 온디맨드경제(On-Demand Economy), 크라우드소싱 (Crowd Sourcing)의 5개 키워드를 각각 선정하였다. 16개 키워드에 대한 분석 결과, 2004년 1월부터 2020년 8월 현재까지 제4차 산업혁명의 구성 요소 핵심기술 11개 키워드에 대한 일반 대중의 관심은 새로운 패러다임 5개 키워드에 대한 관심과 달리 지속적으로 증가하였고, 그 관심도는 3D 프린팅을 제외하고는 모두 전 세계적으로 어느 정도 분포되어 있는 국제성을 획득하였음을 실증적으로 확인하였다.

The purpose of this paper is to empirically verify whether the general public's interest in the components of the Fourth Industrial Revolution continues or increases, and whether there is internationality in the distribution of interest. As a research method, this paper utilized big data tools using Google Trends that a search portal site 'Google' provides, which occupies 90% of the global search volume as of May 2018. While the object of the existing empirical research in this regard was in the general public's interest in the Fourth Industrial Revolution or concepts similar to that, this paper concretely broke the subject of its verification down into practical core technologies and new paradigms constituting the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Through the literature review, eleven keywords as the core technologies composing the Fourth Industrial Revolution were Artificial Intelligence(AI), Internet of Things(IoT), Big Data, Cloud Computing, Mobile, Block Chain, Three Dimensional Printing, Robot, Virtual・Augmented Reality, Cyber-physical System(CPS) and Smart Factory selected, and five keywords as the new paradigms composing the Fourth Industrial Revolution were O2O(Online to Offline), Sharing Economy, Platform Economy, On-Demand Economy and Crowd Sourcing selected. The analysis of the sixteen keywords demonstrated that the general public's interest in the eleven core technology keywords as the Fourth Industrial Revolution’s components has continued to increase from January 2004 to August 2020, and that the level of interest in all those ten core technology keywords except “three dimensional printing” has acquired some degree of internationality distributed all around the world, unlike the interest in the five keywords of new paradigm.
