그동안 한국교회는 복음 선교사역을 지금까지 충실하게 감당해 왔다. 그러한 헌신은 세계선교의 역사에도 빛날 정도이다. 그러나 오늘날 한국교회는 한국 사회에서 영향력을 상실한 상태이다. 특히 그 어느 때보다 코로나19 팬데믹(pandemic)으로 인하여 경제, 사회, 문화 등 삶의 전 영역에서 어려운 시기를 보내고 있다. 그러나 교회가 이러한 사태 속에서 사회에 긍정적인 영향력을 끼치지 못하고 있는 것이 현재 한국교회의 실정이다. 이러한 시대적 상황 속에서 본 논문은 앞서 많은 연구가 이루어진 독일 요한 힌리히 비헤른의(Johann Hinrich Wichern) “내적선교”(Innere Mission)를 선교 신학적 관점 에서 독일 디아코니아의 역사와 함께 살펴보고, 문명 대전환기에 서있 는 이 시대에 한국교회가 지향해야 할 디아코니아의 선교적 의미를 찾아보고, 디아코니아 실천을 통한 교회의 긍정적인 모습과 그 가치와 중요성에 논의해 보고자 한다.

The Korean church has faithfully handled the evangelical missionary service so far. Such dedication also shines in the history of world missionary work. Today, however, the Korean church has lost its influence in Korean society. Especially, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is having a difficult time in all areas of life, including economy, society, and culture. However, the church does not have a positive influence on society. In such a situation, this paper examines Johann Hinrich Wichern’s ‘Innere Mission’ with the history of German Diaconia, of which many previous studies have been done, from a missionary theology perspective finds the missionary meaning of Diaconia in this era of civilization, and discusses its value and importance.
