본 연구는 20세기 이후 민족주의 작곡가의 대표인 바르톡의 제2기(1906~39) 작품 <현악기·타악기·첼레스타를 위한 음악 (Music for Strings, Percussion and Celesta, 1936)>의 주요 음 악적 특징을 분석한 것이다. 이를 위해 먼저 바르톡에 관한 선 행 연구를 파악한 후, 작품의 형식 구조, 악기의 편성, 음악의 3 가지 요소인 선율, 리듬 등의 특징을 통해 그의 작품에 내재된 다양성을 살펴보았다. 이에 따른 본 연구의 결과는 첫째, <현악 기·타악기·첼레스타를 위한 음악>이 고전과 현대의 특징을 모 두 가지고 있다는 사실을 확인하였다. 둘째, 전체적으로 황금 분 할(golden section), 피보나치 수열(Fibonacci Number Series) 등 수학적 개념을 융합한 작품임을 확인하였다. 셋째, 작품의 흐 름에 있어 민족주의적 특징과 표현주의적 특징이 있다는 점을 확인하였다. 또한, 수평적인 선율과 수직적인 리듬이 전 작품에 관통되어 있고, 새로운 악기 편성과 독특한 음색을 시도했다. 종 합적으로 보면, 이 작품은 일견 매우 복잡하고 어려운 무조 음 악 작품으로 보이지만 사실은 질서가 있다는 점을 확인할 수 있 다. 이 작품은 독창적인 악기 편성, 작곡 기법을 가지고 있으므 로 색다른 음악을 보여 준다. 본 연구자는 해당 작품에 다각적 인 해석을 제시하여 후속 연주자들이 더 쉽게 이해할 수 있도록 했다.

This study analyzes the main musical characteristics of <Music for Strings, Percussion and Celesta, 1936>, a work from the second period (1906-1939) of Bela Bartok, a representative nationalist composer since the 20th century. First, we will understand the previous research on Bela Bartok and then examine the diversity inherent in his work's formal structure, arrangement of instruments, and three elements of music, such as melody and rhythm. The first result of this study is that <Music for Strings, Percussion, and Celesta> has both classical and modern characteristics. Second, the piece as a whole was a fusion of mathematical concepts such as the golden section and the Fibonacci Number Series. Third, it was confirmed that the workflow has nationalist and expressionistic characteristics. Horizontal melody and vertical rhythm permeate the work, and new instrument arrangements and unique tones were attempted. It is a very complex and challenging atonal music, but it is rather orderly. This piece shows unique musicality through unique instrumentation and composition techniques. This researcher presented a multifaceted interpretation of the piece so that subsequent performers could more easily understand it.
