It is universally accepted that school education aims at transmitting academic knowledge. However, knowledge transmission only may not shape future citizens with international competitiveness. Enlightened by hot spots and trends of American education, several opinions on transcending knowledge transmission and shaping future citizens are stated in this paper.

人们普遍认为：学校的教育目的就是传递学科专业知识。但是传递知识未必能塑造 出未来具有国际竞 争力的公民。本文从当前美国教育的热点和趋势所获得的启示, 就超越知识传递, 塑 造未来公民谈几点看法。
