Eliot's "Gerontion" (1919) is so ambiguous that it is almost impossible for the reader to escape the labyrinth of interpretations constructed by critics and scholars with regard to various allusions, obscure poetic dictions and phrases, and contentious images and symbols. The purpose of this paper is to pave a clear path through the labyrinth of conflicting theories and interpretations by contrasting and analyzing the labyrinthine ones on Gerontion's phantasmagoric dramatic monologue. The complicated and controversial interpretations of the battle symbolism, "the jew," "house," "Christ the tiger," characters, "knowledge," "History," "tree," "you," "gull," "the Trades," etc., are traced without bias or ambiguity. Gerontion meditates on depraved transubstantiation, the devouring Christ the tiger, History compared to Satan or a prostitute, and humanity annihilated into atomic fragments. Gerontion also evokes a variety of symbols of the collapse of Western Civilization. He, as a character, embodies the concept of "dissociation of sensibility," for by the end of the poem, his infirm body disappears and thought alone remains. All these things can be revealed to the reader who passes through the labyrinth of interpretations.

We have investigated that a couple of soft ferrite ceramic powders having a spinal structure have shown the effect on growth and secondary metabolites production of some medicinal plants cultured in vitro. The addition of the ceramic powders as bare state to culture medium has stimulated the growth of Achyranthes japonica callus and plantlet, adventitious root of Hyoscyamus niger and Platycodon grandiflorum hairy root about 65, 75, 150 and 50%, respectively. Whereas Centella asiatica callus and plantlet, Scopolia parviflora hairy root, and Hyoscyamus albus adventitious root were not affected markedly. Moreover, the ceramic powder has enhanced the growth of H. niger adventitious roots even under conditions of irradiating alone without any direct contact between ceramic powder and media. Based on growth stimulation effect, the ceramic powders have enhanced the gross production of tropane alkaloid in H. niger adventitious root, and polyacetylene in P. grandiflorum hairy root about 35 and 30%, respectively.

An effective grafting method for jujube nursery trees was developed to shorten the operation time, improve the percentage of "takes" and shoot emergence, and form the better graft union. Out of 7 grafting methods, the splice, modified scion Ono graft and the bark graft showed relatively short operation time during the grafting operation comparing to the modified rootstock Ono graft or the chip budding. Among these methods, the bark graft demonstrated 100% "takes", but the modified scion Ono graft or the standard Ono graft showed 58.3% of "takes". The percentages of the vegetative shoot emergence were 100% for the bark graft, 70% for the modified scion Ono graft and lower emergence percent for the rest grafting methods. The union tissue formation for the modified scion Ono graft, the bark graft, or the whip-and-tongue graft was significantly larger than the standard Ono graft or the splice graft. In a close examination of the cross sectional areas of the graft union formation through the microscope, the bark graft was superior, the standard Ono graft was inferior and rest of the grafting methods were intermediate.
