This study is carried out to obtain basic data regarding oxidation and reduction reactions, originated on the recycling of waste tungsten hard scraps by oxidation and reduction processes. First, it is estimated that the theoretical Gibbs free energy for the formation reaction of WO2 and WO3 are calculated as ΔG1,000K= -407.335 kJ/mol and ΔG1,000K = -585.679 kJ/mol, from the thermodynamics data reported by Ihsan Barin. In the experiments, the oxidation of pure tungsten rod by oxygen is carried out over a temperature range of 700-1,000oC for 1 h, and it is possible to conclude that the oxidation reaction can be represented by a relatively linear relationship. Second, the reduction of WO2 and WO3 powder by hydrogen is also calculated from the same thermodynamics data, and it can be found that it was difficult for the reduction reaction to occur at 1,027oC, in the case of WO2, but it can happen for temperatures higher than 1127oC. On the other hand, WO3 reduction reaction occurs at the relatively low temperature of 827oC. Based on these results, the reduction experiments are carried out at a temperature range of 500-1,000oC for 15 min to 4 h, in the case of WO3 powder, and it is possible to conclude that the reduction at 900oC for 2h is needed for a perfect reduction reaction.

The purpose of this paper is to assess the current state of W. B. Yeats’s poems in Korean translation. My examination includes nearly all of the Korean translations of the quoted verse lines of Yeats’s poems appearing in The Yeats Journal of Korea between 2006 and 2008, and parts of translations of Yeats’s works published as separate volumes by the Yeats Society of Korea since 2003. Although so far three generations of scholars have actively engaged in Yeats studies and translation of his works since 1945 when academic research on the poet began in Korea, the translation endeavours by the second and third generation scholars have not yielded satisfactory results and that the senior group of scholars cannot shirk its responsibility.The problem areas in the translations include choice of words and phrases, tense adjustment, versification and punctuation as well as scene description and poetic imagining. Following a detailed discussion of inappropriate and awkward translations, I offer my own translation for comparison if need be.

동ㆍ서독의 통일은 아무도 예상치 못한 상태에서 이루어졌다고들 한다. 그러나 긴 안목에서 보면 장기간의 교류와 협력을 통해 준비된 통일이라고 볼 수 있다. 오랜 교류와 협력 기간 동안 교육계의 상황은 어떠했는지를 분석하고, 동ㆍ서독의 경험으로부터 남한이 대북교육교류와 협력을 추진함에 있어서 얻을 수 있는 시사점이 무엇인지를 추출하는 것이 이 글의 목적이다. 학생과 청소년, 학술 분야의 교류와 협력을 분석해본 결과 교사, 교육행정가들, 입법권자들의 남북한 교육 분야 교류와 협력에 대한 관심 제고, 이를 재정적으로 지원할 방안의 제도화 모색, 교육적 성과를 얻기 위해 요구되는 관계자들의 인내, 교류와 협력에 있어서 철저한 사전 준비와 사후 평가, 북한의 연구 성과에 대한 관심과 인정, 북한의 최우선 관심사를 중심으로 한 교류와 협력 등의 시사점을 얻을 수 있다.
