The recently constructed buildings are ensuring seismic safety with enhanced design criteria. But, the buildings unapplied enhanced design criteria are very weak. In this study, steel grid shear wall is proposed as a solution of seismic retrofit to ensure safety of the existing buildings for the earthquake. And the structural performance experiments were carried out under axial force and cyclic lateral loads. The two specimens were made of a reference RC frame and steel grid shear wall in-filled RC frame. The test setup configured with two dynamic actuators, for the axial force with a 500kN capacity actuator and for the cyclic lateral load applied with the 2,000kN actuator. Compared with control specimen, the strength, stiffness, ductility, energy dissipation capacity of the seismic retrofit structures is evaluated.

Coefficient of friction of PTFE is used as a typical friction material of friction-type seismic isolation devices. Coefficient of friction of PTFE is decreased with increasing the contact stress, and increased with increasing the horizontal movement speed. To understand the caracteristics of new friction material, using EDS, the seismic isolation device, applying new friction material, studying the changes in the friction coefficient with various shear characteristics.

In this paper, shear strain dependence of high hardness laminated rubber bearings were studied through tests. The shear strain dependency test is considered the changes by increase the shear strain by 50%, 100% and 150% based on 100% of total rubber thickness. As the test results shear strain increases were identified a tendency to decrease the shear stiffness.

Has been widely applied in order to minimize damage such as earthquake engineering and building structures, because the economics and efficiency is relatively good seismic isolators. Are widely used from the seismic isolation bearings LRB inhibits excessive displacement occurs on foot by improving the damping capacity of the seismic isolation structure with the flexibility of the rubber bearings during the earthquake, and secure the safety by reducing the seismic forces. The flexible backing is required unlike the conventional one for civil engineering, considering the characteristics of the seismic isolation building plate is the upper structure. The aim of this study was to perform a compression and shear tests to validate the performance limits of the performance of seismic isolation bearings supporting the main features of the structure and lateral displacement.

This paper presents an experimental research aimed at developing a new rubber-based seismic isolator called ‘'Ball Rubber Bearing (BRB). The BRB is composed of a conventional steel-reinforced multi-layered rubber bearing with its central hole filled with small diameter steel balls that are used to provide energy dissipation capacity through friction. in this study, the shear test was performed to compare the NRB & LRB & BRB. bearing shear tests were carried out as per ISO22762 for seismic isolation design standard. A test results showed that EDC & effective stiffness of the BRB is lower than LRB.

Noise and vibration is the most problematic thing in the rail way bridges. In this study, we compared the vibration reduction test of two types of Spherical bearing. The results of the experiment were able to get the following conclusion. The elastomer layered spherical bearings vibration reduction performance is two times better than that of the steel type spherical bearing.

The fatigue is one of the key factors of long-lived design. For this study, wear & fatigue tests are carried out as per AASHTO Guide Specifications for seismic isolation design standard. In experiments, there was no appearance damage of the specimen. A study comparing test results before and after fatigue test showed that EDC & effective stiffness of the specimen after test is lower than before it.
