Rainfall infiltration velocity into the surface of the earth is influenced by time sequential change of the urban surface spatial structure following urban expansion, and is the key factor in determining runoff discharge. In this regard, a comprehensive assessment and understanding of surface runoff associated with land cover change, as well as the changed structure of the landscape, is required to establish landscape planning. Sustainable development, planning and maintenance of the green space inside the city, based on results of the above, are a fundamental countermeasure for relieving fragmentation of the urban green space and increasing urban flood damage, directly or indirectly. In this study, we conducted analysis of landscape structure and change of Surface Runoff Reduction Capacity (SRRC) using the land cover maps from 1975 to 2000 at the lower reaches of the Jungrang stream (LRJS). The results are expected to provide baseline data for sustainable landscape planning that is ecologically healthy and can improve SRRC during torrential rains. The results of this study are as follows. Analysis of the results showed that land cover type underwent a remarkable change in terms of the total area of farm and urban types from 1975 to 2000. The total area of farm decreased by approximately 27.05% during the 25 years, while that of urban increased by approximately 25.61%. In this regard, the results of the landscape structure assessment using FRAGSTATS showed reciprocal tendencies, which intensified fragmentation of the landscape, as measured by all 6 of the selected factors, including LPI, NP, PD, LSI, AI and PLADJ. The Runoff Curve Number (CN) value steadily increased in the results of the time series landscape change assessment of the SRRC from 1975 to 2000. Based on analysis of the changed area associated with SRRC classes, the high SRRC class 1 area showed a steady decrease in accordance with the progression of the time series land use change associated with urban development.
The definitions of international authorized probiotics are live microorganisms that, when administered in adequate amounts, confer a health benefit on the host. The scientific basis for the prevention and treatment of bowel disease among the functions of probiotics has only recently been established. Probiotics, which are actively studied, are lactic acid bacteria, especially Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium species. The C. difficile toxin is controlled by quorum sensing, which causes intestinal disease and other gastrointestinal disorders, leading to antibiotic-associated diarrhea. The use of probiotics for prevention and treatment has been discussed in this review.
Weather forecasting is one of the key elements to improve health through the prevention and mitigation of health problems. Health forecasting is a potential resource creating enormous added value as it is effectively used for people. The purpose of this study is to estimate 'Willingness to Pay' for health forecasting. This survey was carried out to derive willingness to pay from 400 people who lived in Busan and Kyungnam Province and over 30 years of age during the period of July 1-31, 2009. The results showed that a 47.50% of people had intention to willingness to pay for health forecasting, and the pay was 7,184.21 won per year. Willing to pay goes higher depending on 'tax burden as to benefit of weather forecasting', 'importance of the weather forecasting in the aspect of health', 'satisfaction to the weather forecasting', and 'frequency of health weather index check'. This study followed the suggestion of the Korea Meteorological Administration generally and the values derived through surveys could be reliable. It can be concluded that a number of citizens who are willing to pay for health forecasting are high enough to meet the costs needed to provide health forecasting.
This paper aims to analyze the perception of university students for the extreme heat watch warning and suggest the usefulness of special weather reports. For this, we have made up a descriptive questionnaires including the perception, mass media, usefulness and satisfaction of special weather report. Using the SPSS 17.0 program, descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA and Scheffe test were used to analyze the collected data.
The result are as follows; The perception of extreme heat watch warning was some low as 59.1 percentile, we think it needs education and public relations about the extreme heat watch warning. The usefulness of special weather report was 66.6 percentile and of girl students of university that was educated about health care was higher than one of boy students of university, it needs continuous education of these students in order to upgrade satisfaction of special report and mitigate the hazard of extreme heat according to climate change. The main media to get the meteorological information of university undergraduate students were TV and Internet, it needed education and development of new contents. From these findings, suggestions are presented to help improve the extreme heat watch warning.
