The family Ichneumonidae belongs to the order Hymenoptera, class Insecta, and includes over 25,000 valid species in 47 subfamilies worldwide. The family occurs worldwide, with more species in cool moist climates than in warm dry ones. Ichneumonids are parasitoids of immature holometabolous insects or Chelicerata (Araneae and Pseudoscorpionida eggs adult Araneae). Symphyta and Lepidoptera, which are agricultural and forestry pests are the most common hosts. Therefore, they are one of most important control agents of the pest populations. This family is known as a monophyletic group with the family Braconidae. The inventory of the Hymenoptera fauna of the Korean peninsula was started from the end of the last century (1887) by O. Radoszkowski. A comprehensive historical review of the faunal study of Hymenoptera has been prepared by Kim (1963) who recorded 921 species, 382 genera in 76 families from the Korean peninsula. Among them, 271 species of Ichneumonidae had been recorded until 1970 from South Korea. Since then, taxonomic study of Ichneumonidae has developed steadily over the past 30 years by several Korean taxonomists. Recently, the frequency of collaboration with foreign specialists has also increased. The current total of South Korean Ichneumonidae is 921 species in 302 genera of 29 subfamilies. It is hoped that more collaborative work in the future will help describe the country’s rich diversity.

The Banchinae are a large cosmopolitan subfamily that includes approximately 1,800 species in 67 genera. The number of species in South Korea is still pooly known and only 18 of the 312 Eastern Palaearctic species have been reported (Yu et al., 2016). Most species are koinobiont endoparasitoids of lepidopteran larvae and pupae. Teleutaea is a moderately sized genus, comprises 20 described species from Palaearctic, Neotropic and Oriental regions. One species has been described from Mexico. The data of the species from the neighbor countries was summarized as follow: 10 species from Russia (Kuslitzky, 2007); 10 species from Japan (Momoi, 1978; Watanabe & Maeto 2014); 15 species from China continental (Sheng, 2014); three species from Taiwan (Chiu, 1965). Until now the genus was not known from South Korea. Members of this genus parasitize on lepidopterous larvae and pupae living in different kinds of hideaways after than, they emerge from the pupa as adult. As a result, we newly recorded seven species from South Korea including a new species. The key for identification of the South Korean species of Teleutaea and description of a new species are provided.

Netelia Gray, 1860, a largest genus within the subfamily Tryphoninae and its distribution is worldwide. The members of Netelia are known to be ectoparastic koinobionts of lepidopteran larvae. More than 330 species have so far been recorded and divided into 12 subgenera. Among them, the subgenus Amebachia Uchida, 1928 was reported as a genus by Uchida (1928) based on Amebachia baibarana from Taiwan. The lectotype of Amebachia baibarana Uchida, 1928, was re-examined and then this species should be a subgenus of the genus Netelia by Konishi (2010). Consequently, five currently valid species of Netelia (Amebachia) have been described in the world. As a result of the present study, the subgenus Amebachia belonging to the genus Netelia is reported from South Korea for the first time based on a species of Netelia (Amebachia) rasilella and N. (A.) yoshimatsui. Redescriptions and photographs of the diagnostic characters of two species are provided. This research was supported by Basic Science Research Program through the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) funded by the Ministry of Education (NRF-2016R1A6A3A03007788).

The Banchinae are a large cosmopolitan subfamily that includes approximately 1,700 species in 65 genera. The number of species in South Korea is still pooly known and only 18 of the 275 Eastern Palaearctic species have been reported. Most species are koinobiont endoparasitoids of Lepidopteran larvae and pupae. A few banchines also parasitize Coleoptera and Hymenoptera. This subfamily is divided into three tribes; Atrophini, Banchini and Glyptini. The former is the largest tribe with 953 species in 40 genera, and is easily distinguished from two other tribes by the tergites without oblique grooves and the nevellus which is intercepted at middle. Cryptopimpla is moderately large genus with worldwide distribution. As a member of tribe Atrophini, Cryptopimpla can be distinguished by follow: Occipital carina connected with hypostomal carina; epomia absent; lower half of mesopleuron weakly convex; ovipositor sheath 0.5-1.0 times as long as hind tibia; ovipositor tip with subapical dorsal notch. Until now the genus was not found in Korean fauna. Here we report four species, two of them are described as new to science. The description is given also for newly reported male of Cryptopimpla brevigena Kuslitzkii and C. carinifacialis Sheng. A key for South Korean species is proposed.
