This paper examines the effects of a story-writing class and a digital story-game class for primary school students at an after-school English program. To compare the effectiveness of a story-game p(23 students) and a story-writing class (22 students), this study used preand post- English achievement tests. This study also administrated a survey on students’ attitude towards their learning, and interviewed students as well as teachers. The results showed the two classes improved the students’ English ability in terms of reading, listening, writing and vocabulary over the 16 weeks. However, there were big differences between listening skills and writing skills between the two classes. The students in the story-game class showed a big improvement in listening skills. The students in the story-writing class were highly motivated by writing English stories in a group. Based on the results of the two classes, this paper discusses the factors that lead to an effective class with English story-based language learning. By exploring these elements, this paper suggests the educational implications for those who want to develop and implement a digital story-based language learning program for primary school students.

This paper discusses what the basic principle of Korean consonantal assimilation and tensification is and how to teach the two processes to learners. Since some of the Korean phonological changes including these two processes are complicated and cannot easily be seen in other languages, students may face difficulty in learning such processes. It has been claimed that these processes are due to the "principle of economy" in pronunciation. That is, certain consonant clusters or consonantal sequences that are difficult to produce undergo changes in a way to make them easy to pronounce. In this paper I argue against such a claim by adopting the principle of English, which has two different types of consonant clusters, namely "word-initial and word-final clusters". The phonotactic constraints of the word-final clusters in this language, which are opposite to the case of word-initial clusters, have the ascending structure in the consonantal strength between the two consonants. We see that the two consonants in sequence in Korean have almost the same structure. Unlike English, these constraints must be obeyed whether words are simple or complex in Korean. The two consonants that are not kept up to these constraints by the morphological process undergo phonological process. This is the principle of consonantal assimilation and tensification in Korean, and thus, teachers (and also possibly learners) of Korean should recognize the principle to understand the processes correctly.

이 연구의 목적은 다문화 영어 동화를 활용하여 초등 영어 수업에서 다문화 교육을 효과적으로 운영할 수 있는 초등 영어 다문화 통합 수업 모형을 개발하는데 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 초등 교육에서의 문화 교육의 중요성과 의미를 확인하고, 초등 영어교육에서의 다문화 통합 수업에 관한 최근 연구 동향 조사를 통해 영어-문화 통합 수업의 가치와 한계에 대한 분석을 했다. 또한 다문화 교육 수업 모형에 대한 문헌 조사를 바탕으로 초등 영어교육 현장에서 체계적으로 적용 가능한 다문화 통합 수업 모형(KUT: 지식-이해-적용)을 개발하였다. 개발된 KUT 모형 수업에서 단계별로 활용 가능한 다문화 영어 동화와 수업 활동의 예를 제시하였으며 수업 모형에 따라 진행한 차시별 수업 사례와 활동 결과물을 통해 초등 영어교육에서의 의미 있는 다문화 통합 수업의 가능성을 제안한다.

본 연구는 ‘기능-형식 관계 주목초점 기반 네 기본문형 연습’과 ‘협력학습’의 바탕에 내 러티브 기반 영어동화책을 소재로 하여 학생의 정의적 측면과 영어 의사소통능력을 모 두 신장시키는 데 그 목적이 있다. 학생들의 정의적 측면을 신장시키기 위해서는 영어 동화책을 활용하여 교육과정을 재구성한 뒤 협력적 활동을 실시하였다. 의사소통능력신 장을 위해서는 ‘기능-형식 관계 주목초점 기반 네 기본문형 연습’의 방법을 사용하였다. 연구는 6학년 학생 93명 대상, 주당 3시간으로 1년간 이루어졌으며, 1-2차시에는 네 기 본문형 연습과 협력학습의 방법으로 주요표현의 듣고, 말하기 활동을 하였다. 3차시에는 1-2차시에 배운 표현을 쓰는 활동을 하였으며 이때도 역시 협력학습의 방법을 활용하였 다. 4차시에는 목표표현이 포함된 영어 동화책을 읽었으며, 5차시에는 학생들이 목표표 현과 영어동화책의 내용을 활용하여 역할극 대본을 쓰고 역할극을 하였다. 6차시에는 평가 및 과제 점검이 이루어졌다. 이 연구를 통해 학생들이 영어 동화책의 교훈적인 요 소를 내면화하고, 협력학습을 통해 정의적 측면이 향상되었다. ‘기능-형식 관계 주목초점 기반 네 기본문형 연습’은 학생들의 문법 감각을 길러주어 의사소통능력의 향상이 이루 어졌다.

벼리】이 연구의 목적은 영어권 학습자의 비음동화 발음 실태를 살 펴보고 오류 분석을 통한 비음동화 발음 교육 방안을 마련하는데 있 다. 비음동화 환경이 포함된 문장을 영어권 학습자에게 제시하고 발 화를 녹음하여 분석하였다. 녹음된 자료를 바탕으로 환경별 비음동화 발음 오류를 분석하였다. 오류 분석 결과를 바탕으로 통합형 한국어 비음동화 교육방안을 마련하였다.

본 연구는 초등학교 고학년 학생들을 대상으로 영어환경과 흥미에 따른 영어동화 읽기 경험을 탐색함으로써 영어동화를 통해 학생들의 영어능력을 신장시키는 방안을 모색하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 학교 외부와 가정에서 초등학생들이 어떻게 영어를 경험하는지 탐색하기 위해 초등학교 고학년생을 대상으로 설문조사와 인터뷰를 실시하였고 초등교사, 예비 초등교사를 대상으로 인터뷰와 토의를 하였다. 연구 결과, 가정에 소지하고 있는 책과 독서량의 비례관계를 확인하였다. 영어동화를 읽고 싶어하는 학생이 영어동화를 읽고 싶어하지 않는 학생에 비하여 약 1.8배 더 많은 책을 소지하고 있으며 약 1.8배 더 많은 책을 독서한 것으로 나타났다. 학생들의 영어능력 향상을 위해서는 가정, 교실, 학교, 공공도서관을 통해 광범위한 책에의 노출을 시킴으로써 꾸준하게 조용히 독서하기가 실행될 수 있도록 도움을 줄 필요가 있다.
