지각이란 다양한 감각기관을 통하여 시각, 청각, 촉각, 후각 등 주위 환경에 대한 정보를 습득하는 과정으로 뇌에 전달된 정보를 통합하고 해석하는 것을 의미한다. 이러한 지각된 정보를 바탕으로 상황에 적합한 정보를 효율적으로 사용하는 능력을 지각기술(perceptual skill)이라 하며, 스포츠에서 지각기술 은 경기력 향상을 위한 중요한 요소로 작용한다. 따라서 많은 연구자들은 지각기술을 극대화하기 위하여 다양한 방법의 지각기술훈련 프로그램을 개발하고, 그 효과를 검증하려는 시도들이 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서 소개하고 있는 지각기술훈련은 시지각에 중점을 둔 훈련 방법으로 미국이나 유럽에서 스포츠 경기력 향상을 위해 적용하는 훈련프로그램이다. 축구 페널티킥 상황에서 골키퍼에게 키커의 중요 단서(키커의 엉덩이-몸통, 발의 각도)를 바탕으로 지각기술훈련을 실시한 결과, 볼의 방향 예측 능력이 향상되었고, 테니스에서도 서버의 중요 단서(자세, 공, 라켓)에 대한 지각기술훈련을 실시한 결과, 서브 방향에 대한 예측 능력이 향상되었다. 최근 지각기술훈련에 대한 연구가 활발하게 진행되고 있지만 아직까지는 연구의 수가 많지 않으며, 대부분이 실험실 상황에서의 연구로 실제 경기 상황에서의 활용에 대한 연구가 부족한 실정 이다. 따라서 연구자들은 스포츠 경기력 향상을 위하여 지각기술훈련의 필요성을 검토하고, 그 효과에 대한 연구 방향을 포괄적으로 검토해 보는 시도가 필요하다.
Objective : To evaluate the cognitive perceptual performance in relation to the instrumental activities of daily living in Korean elderly women living in Seoul, Pundang, and Kwang-ju county.Method : To evaluate the cognitive perceptual performance, LOTCA-G battery was employed while IADL by Lawton and Brody was used to evaluate the instrumental activities of daily living. T-test, ANOVA, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were used to ana-lyze the accumulated data.Results : The total cognitive perceptual performance score (LOTCA-G) and the total instrumental activities of daily living score (IADL) generally demonstrated a high correlation : (1) From observing the correlation of each items, the ability to use the telephone demonstrated a positive correlation with orientation, concentration, visuomotor organization, perception, memory, thinking operation and praxis (2) While shopping demonstrated a positive correlation with think-ing operation, visuomotor organization, orientation and memory (3) Food preparation demon-strated a positive correlation with orientation, thinking operation, visuomotor organization, con-centration, memory and praxis (4) While house keeping had a positive correlation with ori-entation, memory, visuomotor organization, thinking operation, concentration and perception (5) Laundry demonstrated a positive correlation with all of the items except visuomotor organization (6) While the mode of transportation demonstrated a positive correlation with all of the items including orientation and memory (7) Responsibility for one’s own medication demonstrated a positive correlation with orientation and thinking operation (8) The ability to handle finances demonstrated a positive correlation with orientation and all of the items.Conclusion : Cognitive perceptual performance was found to be significantly correlated with the instrumental activities of daily living skills. In particular, orientation and thinking operation, which are the items of cognitive perceptual performance affected the instrumental activities of daily living the most. Thus, orientation, perception, visuomotor organization, thinking operation, memory, praxis, concentration and cognitive perceptual performance need to improve not only so elderly women may live independently in the community but so as to offer them a high stand-ard of livin.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the cognitive perceptual performance in relation to activities of daily living in stroke patients who were treated at department of rehabilitation medicine of the Samsung Medical Center from December 5. 1996 to April 10, 1997. The cognitive perceptual performance was measured by the Lowenstein Occupational Therapy Cognitive Assessment (LOTCA) and by the Modified Barthel Index (MBI) to evaluate activities of daily living(ADL).
Sixty-seven stroke patients were the subjects in this study. Collected data analysis were completed by using t-test. ANOVA, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. The following were as follow:
1. Among the subtest of the LOTCA, orientation to time, plain block design, reproduction of puzzle showed significant difference depending on patient's affected side. Orientation to time score was higher with left hemiplegic patients. Plain block design and reproduction puzzle score were higher with right hemiplegic patients.
2. Among the subtests of the MBI, dressing, ambulation, and self-care were significantly correlated with the subtests of the LOTCA in order of thinking operation, visuomotor organization, perception and orientation.
3. The result of the cognitive perceptual function affecting the MBI performance using multiple regression analysis, thinking operation was the most influential factor.
The cognitive perceptual perfomance have significant correlation with activities of daily living skills. Also, it is an important factor to functional recovery after stroke.
Therefore, accurate evaluation of cognitive perceptual performance after stroke with treatment of each patient's appropriate level should be done simultaneously with rehabilitation treatment to improve patient's activities of daily living skills.
