This study is to explore and analyze three current English teachers’ thoughts and attitudes on their TEE practices in elementary English classroom settings. Adopting a qualitative approach, data were collected through interviews, teachers’ journals, and informal communications from the three elementary school English teachers. The analysis of data revealed three main themes: 1) thoughts on effective TEE classes, 2) factors affecting TEE classes, 3) the difficulties of conducting TEE classes. The participants presented their views on effective TEE classes. They also expressed their opinion on the timing and usage of TEE. The teachers said TEE classes are influenced by teachers’ English communication ability and willingness to use English as the instructional language, students’ English proficiency and the class atmosphere. Finally, the participants said that TEE classes were difficult due to the same factors influencing TEE class effectiveness. This study has implications for the direction of TEE implementation in elementary education.
Modified dapped end, precast prestressed double-tee slabs were considered in this research. It can facilitate insertion of service ducts at the dapped ends. The total depth of the floor slab may be reduced. In addition, the underside of the double-tee slab showed simpler appearance. Static three-point shear loading test was performed on full-scale specimens. And three modified single-tee slabs were analyzed by strut-tie model method. The specimen failed during the test in the same location as predicted by the strut-tie analytical model. The analysis of experimental results in comparison to the analysis results revealed that the experimental failure loads manifested 108% of analytical failure loads on the average.
This paper investigates whether a secondary teacher trainee improved pair/group work management skills in a short-term teacher training program focusing on the development of TEE-related skills. One female teacher trainee, students, and a teacher trainer participated in the study. The participant’s teaching performance, conference on her teaching performance, lesson plans, and the teacher trainer’s feedback on the teaching performances were collected. The data on teaching performance and conferencing were transcribed and analyzed in terms of a moving-in phase, a monitoring phase, and a moving-out phase. The participant showed improvement in changing seating arrangement, selecting students in modeling, increasing various kinds of comprehension check up questions, changing her voice during monitoring, and drawing students’ attention and signaling a new phase of lesson to the students in a moving-out of the activity. This study suggests how to improve management skills in pair/group work in TEE classes.
The present study aims at investigating problems with a TEE class in terms of classroom activities and code-switching. One middle school teacher and her students participated in the study. The teacher taught a writing class in TEE context. She taught more than half of the class in English. Her students experienced different interactional patterns in four different activities. However, most of the students could not participate both in pair work and group work without her teacher’s help. That was because the teacher had problems with giving instructions: (1) her instructions about the activities were not clear enough; (2) she did not provide any modelling for the activities; and (3) she did not check any clarifications for the activities. Also, the ratio of the teacher’s utterance to students’ was too high: 96% in English and 89.5% in Korean. In addition, she did not use any pause in code-switching from English to Korean, deprived of checking whether her students understood the target language input given in English. Directions for further research and pedagogical implications will be discussed.
The purpose of this study is to gauge the opinions of parents and teachers of English for the primary and secondary schools. It seeks to discover the implications for English education and provide referential data necessary to run a better English policy in school. A survey was conducted on a total of 3,294 particpants including 2,040 parents of public schools and 1,254 English teachers in primary and secondary schools. The questionnaire consists of 12 questions about the policies of TEE (Teaching English in English) and the NEAT (National English Ability Test). We used the SPSS 20.0 software to perform chi-square and t-tests. The results showed that teachers and parents were in agreement about the necessity of both TEE and the NEAT. In particular, the majority of parents thought that teaching English in English is important, and that the NEAT should be used for practical English improvement.
A new in-service teaching certificate system, the TEE Certificate system, was launched for Korean teachers of English with the aim of encouraging them to use English in their daily teaching practice. This study attempts to investigate key issues regarding the current development of the TEE Certificate system and addresses the implications for a successful TEE policy in Korea. It employs document analysis produced by the Ministry of Education, Science and Teclmology and to key Regional Offices of Education and semi-structured interviews with 15 supervisors, 11 teachers and 2 TEE Certificate examiners. The research findings suggest that there is a gap regarding the aims of the TEE Certificate system among stakeholders, leading to the different attitudes toward it. Those who have positive perceptions of the system see it as a tool for encouraging Korean teachers of English to develop their English language teaching competence. On the other hand, those who have negative attitudes see the negative aspects such as another type of burden on teachers and even the possibility of a form of lay-off. The new strategies of how to use the system are required to make it play a proper role in terms of the provision of an English-fi'iendly learning environment and supporting teachers' professional development.
In this paper, we present the results of experimental investigation pertaining to the structural behavior of Tee joint connection composed of pultruded I-shape FRP members. In this study, we focus on the evaluation of load carrying capacity of Tee joint which appeared frequently to fabricate framed structure composed of pultruded FRP members. Through the experimental investigation moment-rotation relationship is found and the result is used to estimate the rotaion stiffness.
This research is trying to figure out the factors that make effects on the body movement and

equipment of the video analysis and ground reaction force. By doing so,
