        In this study, the quality safety limit period of seven types of bakery bread was analyzed, and their use-by date was calculated. For evaluating product quality, storage conditions were set as 5, 15, 25, and 35oC for 50 days, and moisture, microorganisms, sensory characteristics, and dominant bacteria were examined. The quality and safety standards followed the Korea Food Code and Korean industrial standards (KS). The results showed that all products stored at 5oC satisfied the standard for bacterial count for day 50, but the sensory quality was below the standard level. Samples stored at 15oC showed high variability from 3–39 days. At 25oC, a quality safety limit period of 2–20 days was set, and one sample was found to have the same shelf life. Bread stored at 35 °C had the shortest quality safety limit period. Considering a safety factor of 0.87, a use-by date period of 1.7–13.1 days was calculated. Therefore, setting the use-by date according to the product type is necessary, even for the same product category. Among the bread products sold in bakeries, those managed as room temperature products (1–35oC) can be distributed and stored in a temperature range of up to 35oC. Overall, this study demonstrates the importance of setting a quality retention period based on the product characteristics and carefully considering the safety factor.

        표고버섯은 톱밥배지 재배기술의 발달로 세계적으로 가장 많이 생산되고 식용되는 버섯이며, 톱밥배지를 이용하여 재배된 표고버섯의 생산량이 늘고 있다. 본 연구에서는 톱밥재배 표고버섯의 품종별 식품학적 차이를 비교하고자 동일 조건에서 재배된 산조701호, 산조707호, 산조715호, 참아람, L808 총 5품종 표고버섯의 일반성분, 영양성분 및 항산화 활성을 분석하였다. 동결건조된 표고버섯의 일반성분 함량은 회분 4.06~5.92 g/100 g, 조지방 0.75~1.02 g/100 g으로 품종별 차이가 크지 않았으나 조단백질은 21.24~29.15 g/100 g으로 품종간의 유의적 차이를 보였다. Trehalose는 산조701호에서 9.60±0.08 g/100 g 으로 가장 높은 함량으로 확인되었다. 총 아미노산 조성은 glutamic acid>aspartic acid>leucine 순으로 높은 분포를 보였으며, 유의적 차이를 보인 아미노산은 glycine, alanine, valine, isoleucine, leucine, phenylalanine이었으며 산조707 호, 산조715호, 산조701호, 참아람, L808 순으로 높은 함량을 보였다. 물 추출물의 총 폴리페놀 함량과 총 플라보노이드 함량은 산조715호가 3.49±0.04 mg GAE/g, 1.33±0.03 mg QE/g으로 가장 높게 나타났으며 다른 품종 들과 유의적 차이를 나타내었다. 같은 톱밥배지와 환경에 서 재배된 표고버섯 5 품종간의 유의적 차이가 확인된 성분은 조단백질, trehalose, 6종의 아미노산이었다. 하지만 한 곳의 임가에서 재배된 표고버섯 품종간의 비교 결과로, 품종별 시료 수를 확대한 추가실험을 통하여 품종 간의 구별 가능성을 더욱 세부적으로 검토할 필요가 있다.

        기후변화, 외래병해충발생, 밀원수 감소 등 여러 요인으로 인해 우리 나라의 양봉농가는 벌꿀생산량 및 농가소득이 감소하는 추세이다. 또한 밀원이 없는 시기에 가축용 사료가 아닌 고가의 식용설탕을 꿀벌의 인공사료로 급여하고 있어 농가는 ‘생산비 상승’과 ‘밀원수 부족’을 국내양봉업이 직면한 가장 큰 문제점으로 지적하고 있다. 이에 따른 양봉농가의 생산비를 절감하고 꿀벌의 생리·생태의 개선효과를 가지는 저가형 당액사료개발을 위해 농산부산물에서 추출한 천연당을 봉군에 적용시험을 추진하였다. 양파(OS-1, OS-2), 양배추(CS-1, CS-2), 바나나(Banana)부산물에서 추출한 천연당의 봉군당 평균먹이소모량(mL)은 설탕당액(대조구) 처리구와 비교시 바나나추출당액 급여구에서 5500.00±0.00, 5133.33±404.15로 유사하였다. 그러나 꿀벌의 봉세발달은 대조구에 비해 21006.7±2137, 17403.3±2257마리로 조사되어 낮은 경향을 나타내었고 수명조사 결과는 큰 차이가 없었다. 농산부산물을 이용한 천연당은 우선 꿀벌의 기호도 향상을 우선으로 개선시켜야 할 것으로 보인다.

        농촌진흥청 개발 품종인 토종벌 신품종(질병저항성 우수계통)에 대해 전남지역에서의 형질특성(봉세발달, 마리당 수밀력, 청소력 등)을 조사하였다. 질병저항성 계통(RS)으로 육성된 토종벌의 유밀기 마리당 수밀력은 들어오는 일벌의 무게가 80.89±8.95mg, 나가는 일벌의 무게가 63.56±8.90mg으로 조사되었고, 비저항성계통(NRS)은 각각 83.22±1.39, 66.67±1.20mg으로 조사되어 RS에서 그 무게차가 0.7mg 더 높았으나 통계적 유의차는 없었다. Pin killed test에 의한 사충제거능력(청소력)은 제거하지 못한 유충잔존율이 RS에서 12시간과 24시간 경과시 14.00±10.39와 7.00±3.46으로, NRS에서는 20.33±14.29, 13.33±10.41%로 조사되었으며, 특히 RS와 NRS의 사충 비제거율이 24시간 경과하였을 때 4.67±2.08, 8.33±7.77%로 RS가 우수한 특성을 보였다. 신규여왕벌 입식 후 봉군세력발달은 NRS에 비하여 RS의 일벌수, 번데기 및 유충수의 발달율이 안정적이고 다소 빠르게 증가하였다.

        Even though plant protections using chemical pesticides have several advantages, non-specific toxicities to other beneficial insects and humans and rapid development of tolerance and/or resistance of target pests to chemicals are major disadvantages. Recent researches suggested that using double stranded RNA (dsRNA) could be species specific and environmental friendly pest management protocols. However, efficiency of dsRNA treatments are known to be variable according to its application methods. For example, injections of dsRNAs to pests were known to be effective in all species. However, efficiencies of oral application of dsRNAs were known to be dependent on species. Thus, development of tools that could enhance the efficacy of orally treated dsRNAs are utmost important for widening usages of dsRNAs in plant protection. Recently, we found that the efficacy of oral treated dsRNAs to target pests could be enhanced by nano-technologies. I will show how applying nano-technology to dsRNAs enhance the efficiency of dsRNAs.         Steel slag has been used as the alternative binder to replace Portland cement that furthermore used as in construction and/or for stabilization/solidification of heavy metals in mine soil. One of the treatments to modify the leaching behavior of the mine soil is by carbonation. The purpose of this study was to assess the potential of carbonation in various steel slags. Based on chemical and mineralogical characterization of four kinds of slag that were used in this study, it showed that all slags had high potential for reacting with CO2 that was in accordance with the high CaO and MgO content. CO2 sequestration by aqueous carbonation of several kinds of stainless steel slags with different liquid to solid ratio was investigated in this study. The effect of chemical properties and reaction time on the performance of the carbonation process was also investigated. Converter slag, blast furnace slag (BFS) and ladle furnace slag (LFS) were used. Carbonation experiment was conducted in a closed reactor under the conditions; 1bar, 400rpm and 25℃, with solid to liquid ratios of 0.4, 0.6 and 1.0. Carbonation kinetic test was relatively fast and completed within 5 hours. The CO2 consumption increased when the liquid to solid ratio increased because of the dilution effect. Our results showed that the higher CaO and MgO contents in the slag, the higher CO2 consumption was observed. Pohang converter slag and Dangjin LFS showed slightly different tendency. At L/S ratio 0.4, Pohang slag with higher CaO and MgO content had higher CO2 consumption than Dangjin LFS. As the water content increased, Dangjin LFS had higher CO2 consumption than Pohang converter slag that was caused by the texture of Dangjin LFS with smaller particle size than Pohang converter slag. However, both Pohang BFS and Dangjin BFS have poor capacity in CO2 sequestration.

        Sorption of chlorinated pesticides such as 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) and atrazine onto natural clays (montmorillonite and zeolite) modified with cationic surfactant, hexadecyltrimethyl-ammonium (HDTMA) and a natural soil was investigated using batch adsorbers. The clays were transformed from hydrophilic to hydrophobic by the cation exchange between clay surface and HDTMA up to 100% of the cation exchange capacity (CEC). Physicochemical characteristics of the sorbents such as pH, PZC (point of zero charge), organic carbon content (foc), fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), differential thermogravimetric analysis (DTGA) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were analyzed. Sorption isotherm models such as Freundlich and Langmuir were fitted to the experimental data, resulting Langmuir model (R2 > 0.986) was fitted better than Freundlich model (R2 > 0.973). Sorption capacity (Q0) for 2,4-D and atrazine was in the order of HDTMA-montmorillonite > HDTMA-zeolite > natural soil corresponding to the increase in organic carbon content (foc). The sorption of the pesticides was also affected by pH. The sorption of 2,4-D decreased with the increase in pH, whereas that of atrazine was not changed. This indicated that the sorption capacity (Q0) of 2,4-D and atrazine was not affected by the solution pH because they exist as anionic (deprotonated) forms at pH above pKa. The results indicate that organoclay has a promising potential to reduce chlorinated pesticides in the effluent from golf courses.
