현대를 살아가면서 코칭의 요구는 점차로 증대되고 있다. 코칭은 일시적으로 지나가는 유행과 같은 것이 아닌 것이 분명하다. 그것은 코칭이 고대로부터 인간을 지혜롭게 하고 그 지혜를 따라 살게 하는 탁월한 지혜의 도구로서 오늘에 이르고 있기 때문이다. 그러나 코칭이 보다 인간을 행복하게 하는 학문으로 남아지고 연구되어진다면 더욱 우리에게 필요하고 유익한 학문이 될 것이다. 우리는 코칭이 대학 현장에서 정식 학문으로 인정받고 성숙한 학문이 되길 바란다. 그러나 코칭이 코칭학으로 승화되기까지는 많은 과정이 남아 있다. 한국코칭학회는 코칭이 학문화되기 위한 초석을 닦고 있다. 그러기 위해서는 학문이 되기 위한 조건을 갖추어야 할 것이다. 또한 대학에서 코칭이 학문적 기초와 틀을 만들어 가기 위해서는 인접 학문들과 적극적인 교류가 필요하다는 것이며 이를 위해 코칭과 유사한 학제 간에 활발한 교류는 물론이고 최근 제기 되고 있는 융･복합적 학문 간에 참여도 기대해 볼 수 있다고 본다. 그럼에도 불구하고 코칭이 학문으로 자리 잡기 위해서는 코칭학의 독립적 면모를 구체적으로 갖추어 나가야 할 것이다.

Living in the modern world, the demand for coaching has been increasing. It is obviousnthat coaching is not just a temporary passing craze. That is because it has given wisdomnto us since ancient times and is used today as the tool of wisdom allowing us to livenfollowing that wisdom. However, coaching remains as the study which teaches humannbeings to become happier and if researched upon, will become a necessary and beneficialnacademic field for us.nWe hope that coaching will become a field of study which is recognized and matured innthe university. However, there is still a long process remaining for coaching to becomeninstitutionalized. This establishment is polishing the foundations for it to become annacademic field.nThis text is the keynote address acting as a link to this effort. It is stated here that forncoaching to create the basis for an academic field, it requires active cooperation withnadjacent fields and for this matter coaching is having brisk cooperation with similar fieldsnas well as great expectations for the convergence between complex academics which hasnrecently been initiated. Despite all this, for coaching to become institutionalized, it has tonfurnish a concrete independent aspect.
